Hey folks - please find time for Marisa Lagos' deep interview of @gilduran.com and his expertise on #TechFascism. "The billionaires imagine a future without us. We need to imagine a future without them."

Not to be some wild-eyed innocent, but I think it should be slightly bigger news that The Lancet have crunched the numbers and found that Musk's USAID cuts will kill 14 million people. And that's just by 2030. That's 9,600 people a day, every day, until the next world cup rolls around.
New estimate of Elon Musk’s death toll just dropped www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...
I drove across Memorial Bridge in DC today. Saw Trump’s gold-plated bridge ornaments. Free business idea: A tour company that offers “Corruption Tours” of DC where you see all the places Trump has effed with.
However, treating structural information flows purely as an individual choice overlooks how platform architectures shape cognitive environments. Much like environmental health, relying entirely on individual vigilance is ultimately less effective than establishing upstream structural standards. 2/2
9/ Misinformation can work by bypassing reasoning. But this sets up reason and emotion as opposites. Emotion is how we register that something matters. A message isn't manipulative because it moves you. It's manipulative if the feeling it produces doesn't fit the facts.
I agree. Refusal to acknowledge the extent of this catastrophe is in part an outgrowth of our collective inability to deal with/carry grief. Suppression leads to denial, paralysis, and an accelerating downward spiral.
One of the things I think about a lot is... how in order to rapidly scale transformative movements amidst this burgeoning era of ecological breakdown, we need a more sophisticated politics of collective grief. #ClimateSky
"Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding." I paraphrase this highly applicable little pearl of wisdom all the time but today I needed the actual quote so I had to dig it up. Turns out I had been misattributing it to Rumi, but it is actually Kahlil Gibran. 🙏
This is so absurd that it seems impossible. I know it is not .
I was at an opticians yesterday and they were selling the Ray-Ban Pervert Glasses. I'd never gotten a close look before. They are virtually visually indistinguishable from any other pair of sunglasses unless you REALLY know what to look for. Ban them immediately, what the fuck?
REMINDER: Third Way are #VichyDems, willing to let the fascists and oligarchs win as long as the left is kept away from governing power.
The "centrist" think tank Third Way is looking to pay someone between $140,000 and $150,000 to spend their days trying to dig up dirt on DSA members. They're trying to sell this gig as "anti-extremism" work, which I find completely disgusting.
Peter Thiel's notorious techno-fascist company that sells mass surveillance and "A.I. kill chains" is partnering with one of the U.S.'s few remaining national newspapers? If anything I'd say "inherent conflict of interest" is underselling how wrong and alarming this is. #PurgePalantir
“An inherent conflict of interest”: More than 800 USA Today Co. employees want the company to end its new Palantir partnership
"Part of the problem is that we know very, very little about how Palantir’s software is going to be used."

“An El Niño is not a storm. It does not arrive with wind and fury and then recede. It is a reorganization of where rain falls on Earth... The warm water is only the mechanism; the failed harvests are what people will actually live through.“
Scorched Harvest: The Strongest El Niño Ever Forecast, the Crops in Its Path, and the Hunger It Will Leave Behind
How 3.6 degrees of warm water in the tropical Pacific is about to redraw the map of global hunger and why, this time, no one in power can claim they were not warned.

We've been trying to tell you, but you just won't listen. Who has built a gas import terminal in Australia, @drilledmedia.bsky.social? Who donated to @australiainstitute.org.au? Who benefits from a gas tax the most, and is funding "ethical ai" centers internationally? Where the fuck are you, media?
Forrest backtracks on "filthy" fossils, supports development of gas terminal
Having once pledged not to “mangle the process” by using anything but renewables to fuel his energy plans, Andrew Forrest says some imported gas is necessary.

NEW: some scary new research out today showing that the fossil fuel industry's use of AI could possibly increase global energy emissions by as much as 4.8% — about as much as Russia's energy sector emits yearly that number is much larger than global data center emissions projections
At a meeting checking in on the mid-term elections. What’s the plan? It’s pretty simple: 1) Win 2) Defend the results (with mass mobilization if necessary) 3) Force the new Democratic majority to prosecute the regime’s abuses, corruption and lawlessness

You can't predict the turns this sentence takes. Extreme heat is threatening Italy’s “cheese banks,” where hundreds of thousands of Parmigiano-Reggiano wheels are stored as loan collateral. fortune.com/2026/08/10/i...
Saw this written on a whiteboard in a community center kitchen. It's not the most inspiring vision of collective social relationships but sometimes you just got to be pragmatic.
The @newsguild.org released a statement today calling on USA Today Co. to end its partnership with Palantir. The statement was signed by 31 units representing 800 workers nationwide. Journalists at the Akron Beacon Journal, Record-Courier, Columbus Dispatch and Newark Advocate are proud to sign.

PORTMANTEAU ALERT! In the midst of supporting some allies who had rapidly shifting organizational needs I accidentally coined a fun and descriptive term: “coach-sulting” Needless to say, given current movement vernacular this term probably gets “coined” like dozens of times a week.
Excited to announce we've got a new @drilledmedia.bsky.social miniseries coming in partnership with @highcountrynews.org! As the 10-year anniversary of #StandingRock hits, @alleenbrown.bsky.social brings us the inside story of Energy Transfer's propaganda: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/w...
