The entire point of hippydom was self-indulgence to the disregard of everyone else. Hippies were reactionaries: “back to the land, recover the ancient ways, be self-sufficient.” American Wandervogel.
One thing that separates Dreher from all of his peers is that he's a True Believer, and I mean that phrase in a "just the most gullible mf-er on the planet" way as the more traditional way.

This is because Trump cannot perceive the value of anything not directly related to himself. And so he's right - Blue States *are* in fact the enemy in a way that Iran is not. Because Blue voters can and do act against him personally, while all Iran can do is attack the country & its citizens.

What do you think the odds are that people who read this headline about the MAHA-pushed drug will assume the "surprising impact" from the study is that it either has no effect or negative effects, which is in fact what this study shows.
