Hey there! In advance of the release date for Ephemeris, I'm offering a few free copies of my upcoming book (and the rest of the series) in eBook format. If you're interested, please message me. ^_^

I hate marketing. I just want people to read my stuff. It's not about money, it's about telling stories and having people enjoy them. I don't know how to reach people anymore. My engagement has dwindled to nothing. Hashtags don't work, word of mouth isn't working ... I'd welcome advice.

1. Anti-trans ballot initiatives are spreading across the United States. In 2026, it appears that five states: Colorado, Washington, Arizona, Nebraska, and Missouri will send such referendums to voters. Allied organizations are trying to fight back. Subscribe to support our journalism.

Modern courts (mostly fourth circuit, unsurprisingly) is consistently holding that any and all of your devices can be searched or confiscated during border crossings with no suspicion of wrongdoing. They sell it as catching criminals; believe that at your peril. arstechnica.com/gadgets/2026...

Time to purge follows. It's depressing how many people I'm following who never followed me back, or who unfollowed me. Oh well, they're all gone now. Hopefully my timeline will be cleaner now. ^_^ Depressingly, many of them probably went back to twitter. BlueSky is like yelling into the void.

TL;DR: Tech sucks now because late-stage capitalism demanded pure money goals quickly over any form of the real inspiration to create genuine value that used to lead to long-term profits, and that's ruining useful tech and just about everything else in our civilization.

Why is reddit so full of racist, misogynist, bigoted crap? Is this reflective of society, is it being seeded, or is it some form of automated hate-pump? I can't believe the overt bigotry that has been emerging lately.

Being an airline pilot FUCKING SUCKS. And yeah, I know a lot of jobs (most?) suck now. But while I don't regret coming to this job, I regret getting stuck in it. Every. Day. Being a captain on an awesome jet with good crews flying across the country SOUNDS cool, but they don't tell you the COST.

I hope those load bearing followers know how much they mean to artists. Regulars, esp regular commenters that engage your work and story do not go without notice and are to be cherished. It's esp why I try to reply to let them know! (and why I wish I could keep track of any I've missed replying to )

Fun story and potential tip for artists: find a load boarding follower or two. When my account was brand new and less than 10 people knew I existed I had one follower who would like almost every piece I made. I appreciated his support so much that my partner knew his screenname- 🧵

I have a confession: I hate soccer. I grew up playing it, and had fun right up until I started getting yellow cards for "over-aggressive play." Nobody could define what they meant. But we're trying to compete, right? To win? I'm not doing anything to endanger my opponents. What does that mean?
