I love how the email from Google about their jackass plan to remove the overall functional Assistant and replace it with useless Gemini crap has no so sort of feedback link. Almost like the company knows they made garbage bot and forced it on us and doesn't want to get any bad news from customers.

if your city is in this list, write to/call every single one of your representatives and make it clear that you don't live there to have a lawless, out-of-town gang drive away tourists and take up valuable parking space that could go both travelers and locals alike. I'll be doing the same soon

Man, the so many of the "Vote Blue No Matter Who" big shots are really stamping their feet and going "No, no, no! We wanted you to just keep blithely letting our milquetoast corporate drones keep power!" Guys, we supported your wishy-washy corpos. Time for you to get behind our actual progressives.

Every time our air quality becomes untenable because of constant wildfire season (which some of you may remember wasn't a thing that existed several years ago) it renews my desire for every oil executive from the last 40 years to have an appointment with the Wicker Man.

Noticing some folks seem to think writers just say clever things without understanding how the world works, as if we're all naifs who just happen to be good with words instead of people with formal educations and a professional interest verging on requirement in the ability to conduct research

The narrative that if you don't let rabid, illiterate Nazis into your conversation than you're "in an echo chamber" is one of the many tricks fascists try to pull on people who want to feel inclusive and enlightened. Simple truth: not every viewpoint is valid, and some are especially invalid.

The SCREEN Act is not just another age-verification bill — it goes much further than anything passed at the state-level or in other countries. 1. The bill doesn't just target porn sites. It goes after *any* site that allows material "harmful" to minors. You'd have to scan your face to use Google.

I never wanted to be a "in my day things were better" old lady... but I need to categorically state that technology actually WAS better. You are currently in the peak of designed obsolence, enshittification, personal intrusion and forced acceptance by lack of choice. Sure, the underlying tech...

That project work feeling where you step away for what's probably going to be 1-2 minutes at most, then your brain suddenly goes, "You didn't save recently! What if this is the exact minute that everything crashes? Ahhh!" So much fun when your own neurons find every reason to manufacture anxiety.

The sheer number of people and organizations caving to rich, reich-wing transphobes is just enraging and depressing. What the hell happened in the last 5 years to everyone and everything that used to have a semblance of a spine? It's pathetic how they now immediately kowtow to these puling ghouls.

I feel like this article understates the situation. I would rather see *all* of Congress replaced. Every single one, regardless of party. Throw the whole thing out and start over with new people who are willing to, like... do stuff their constituents are actually asking for.

CNN Poll: Voters favor Democrats by an 8-point margin heading into the midterms | CNN Politics

Less than 100 days before the midterms, voters are agitating for wholesale change in Congress and looking to the Democratic Party in hopes of making that happen.

If someone is actually, in good faith, “just asking questions,” they stop asking once those questions have been answered. Every question about trans women in sports, trans kids, etc., is extremely answered. Anyone still “asking” in 2026 just doesn’t like the answers and wants you to ignore them.

Rodger Sherman@rodger.bsky.social · 6d ago

i don't believe anyone has "good-faith" concerns about trans women in sports in 2026. there's been too much time to hear the actual evidence, the actual people affected, and the role the debate plays in attempts to purge trans people from American life. anybody picking that side has made a choice

We have held our noses and voted so many times. We have stumped for Democrats who were so-so because we knew the alternatives were worse. We have tried to keep supporting them. And they have simply decided to betray us by allowing Republican anti-LGBT talking points to squeeze into the Dem party.

Amy Acton is bigot trash who shouldn't be the Dem nominee for any position. Dems shouldn't have started letting candidates slide right. You will never get Republican/"Center" voters who've been told for thirty years now that you're the devil incarnate. But you will lose a lot of previous Dem voters.

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com · 6d ago

1. In the aftermath of forcing the Ohio Progressive Caucus to delete criticism of Amy Acton for calling trans girls "boys," progressives were promised a meeting with Acton. Now, we have learned she didn't show up, and kicked trans people out of the meeting. Subscribe to support our journalism.

The only responsible attitude for liberals and progressives to align on is that all right-wing grievances, claims and believes are not only false, but malicious lies. Nothing passes the mouth of an American conservative in public life that is not meant to harm and destroy the lives of millions.

"Vote Blue No Matter Who!™" We did, several times, and now we're finally getting a coalition of winning Blue candidates to actually DO SOMETHING about the cyberpunk dystopia Republicans and corporations keep building. So vote Blue! "Yeah. Er, we meant ... Vote The Blue Our PAC Masters Approve Of."

Centrists in Congress (anonymously) threatening to leave this Democratic Party. James Carville calling for a schism. Top Dems refusing to endorse Dem primary winners. Pouty (also anonymous) pro-Israel donors in MI calling for a donor strike—I wrote about the emerging centrist Uncommitted Movement.

It's not enough to be against AI, you need to be pro art. You need to be a champion of the art you love, you need to share that passion and joy, and do what you can to support the artists who make it, because it's not enough to hate AI, to hate what it's doing to art and media; you gotta love.

Bipartisanship is absolute BS in a system where one party's (Republican) stated goals are to subjugate, torture, and/or evict 80% of the country that they deem "undesirables" and create a corporate white ethnostate. Cooperating with people like that isn't enlightened, it's just gullibly stupid.

Zach London: you know that sinking feeling that you get when you click on a youtube video that looks cool but then you realize it's AI slop made by an unfeeling machine? London: what if you could also get that feeling in a movie theater? London: gentlemen i give you gossip goblin

Theory: One of the reasons modern tech keeps getting worse is that previously, someone would develop a technology out of a particular vision or to solve to a problem. They hoped to make money, but the initial goal was the realization of an inspiration for something of genuine value. (1/6)

For 20 years, journalists et al have been failing us by refusing to, in real time, simply utter the words: "That's categorically not correct and not how any of this works, dumbass." every time one of these clowns makes up randomness on camera. Treating every viewpoint as valid was always a mistake.
