Between the new work on the Don Trail and Biidaasige Park, I love how the City of Toronto has wrapped nature around human structures but not tried to eradicate them.

It has been a Bad Stuff Day. Expressed myself poorly, got chewed out by a cyclist for running 2 up on the MGT, someone locked their 80lb e-motorbike to and on top of my road bike at the store and for some reason I can’t make code behave at work. Time to make chicken sandwiches and play with a TX81Z.
For the past ~33h we’ve had 5 teenagers using our tiny apartment as a home base for shooting and producing a film for the TIFF 48h Film Challenge, and again I say the world will be in good hands if there’s anything left to work with when our kids take over.
It’s extremely rare to play with someone new and from the very beginning it’s clear you just do music the same way (last time led to sharing a musical brain with Christine Bougie for 10 years). Meeting Max and Mateos a month ago was like that, and I’m excited to see what happens tomorrow.
There are a lot of magical things about Jazzpunk, and the soundtrack is one of the most magical. Partly it’s because @beetlenaut.bsky.social knows what to do with music, and part of it is that he knows how to make good decisions about how to do it.

I had built two EMS "VCS3" synthesizers, so I used these in conjunction with many different spring reverbs and tape echos machines, some were DIY

The rich hoard money. It’s later-stage capitalism than you think. Cultivate community, it’s all we have.
I rode to the new side of Biidaasige Park on Friday. It’s magnificent. There were maybe 30 other people there mid-afternoon, most of us wandering around, disoriented, blinking as if we weren’t sure it was safe to believe it, like when everyone emerges after years underground in a sci fi movie.

A couple of years ago TO had an October heat wave. CBC went out and asked people coming out of the subway how they were dealing with it. Mostly it was I’m gonna go to the park or the pool or whatever and then they asked a bunch of teenagers and they said dude this is normal for October.
I’m finding CBC’s coverage of this infuriating. Chris Glover should know better than “well, it’s pretty hot out there but we’ll get through it together” (paraphrased).

I live in Toronto, a city built on an ancient shoreline, where the slope is about 8.7% between me and where i go to work. San Francisco’s famously punishing streetcar routes max out around a 9% grade. E-bikes make bike usage accessible for many people who aren't professional cyclists
If there’s one thing you do this summer, make it convincing someone to not vote for Brad Bradford.
