We report: this is rain far away, late, and somehow in the path of the sunshine this time as well. It is dry where we are (it feels humid, but under the threshold for precipitation), and we think the wind is pushing the situation away from us. Our eyes are stuck to the horizon.

Digital painting of a sunset sky: large grey-purple clouds are taking up most of the frame, with precipitation falling underneath, straight down the middle of the clouds. The sky is bright pink right where the rain is falling. There are a few other spots across the frame that are lit pale orange.

context. sentiment. inferences. People seriously cannot do these things anymore. Thatโ€™s why they angrily demand you spell out every joke, every reference, super duper promise you mean something only this one prescribed way. They cannot do it for themselves or tolerate the any ambiguity.

The literacy crisis is not just referring to people's ability to literally read and write. It's also people's inability to read for context. I've been a public educator for over 20 years and I have never, ever seen it this bad.

A little tip! I like to plan out my foliage compositions by using premade clip studio assets! ๐ŸŒฑ But before drawing over them, make sure to blur the "sketch" layer so you're not mindlessly tracing the lines! ๐Ÿฅฐ

"sketch" layer with various premade csp brushes forming a nice composition, heavily blurredproperly lined version of the same composition I made using that "sketch"

I've made a Cara account! I'll use it to post an archive of work that I like over time, so there's only one post for now, but I'm looking forward to following more people I know there ๐Ÿ˜Œhttps://cara.app/niverdia

"Ruby-Crowned Kinglet Diamond" 4"x4" oil painting on panel A tiny bird seemed appropriate for the tiny painting size. I love kinglets and have had some really cool experiences with them. Their curiosity and tendency to mingle with groups of chickadees has led to some close encounters.

An oil painting of a Ruby-crowned kinglet in autumn. This little guy is so tiny and lightweight that it can easily stand on a stiff leaf, as this one is doing. They never stop moving for more than a brief moment. The artist watermark reads: Copyright 2026 Jennifer Miller "Nambroth", featherdust dot com
