It’s okay to be a baby! Here are some spooky, not scary, tabletop games I like 👻

Thank you for adventuring in our strangest experiment!
"Playthings' unusual rules capture a moment perfectly. That moment is childhood, and the awesome, terrifying freedom that defines it." My last review before a week of rest - enjoy: www.wargamer.com/playthings/b...
Jerry and I had fun playing and speeding up some gameplay today.
Rob made a bonus piece of cute art for Thieves’ Cant and I just quite adore it. It’ll find its use!
Having a vision statement means this part year of submissions were, by and large, fantastic. Some of the coolest stuff we have ever been pitched. docs.google.com/document/d/1... In that vein, I am experimenting with a new 'golden rule' that has come up lately, and I am contemplating if it fits.
This is really sweet! I was having a down week about design so this is a big cheer-up.
Here Lies came out of nowhere for me, and quickly jumped into my top 5 of the year so far. A superb deduction game from @dvcgames.bsky.social courtesy of @zatutrade.bsky.social , check out my full thoughts here - punchboard.co.uk/here-lies-ga...
Love it when art comes together. Pretty much almost there with Thieves’ Cant, our improv game where two thieves communicate in code while the remaining players watch and try to catch them red-handed.
If I could only play games from one publisher for the rest of my life, I think I’d have to choose @dvcgames.bsky.social. Pacts delivers.
Another day of graphic design madness. Keep me company- ask me something!
Spending time this morning thinking about how our games end up, sort of, in sets of three. Pods? Clutches? Broods? There is something to each set, even if it isn’t obvious, that holds them together.
[Inkwell Review] I apologize to any monks that I may have offended by suggesting that there wasn't much to do in the 1300s https://whatsericplaying.com/2026/08/31/inkwell/

We took our 18 month old son to the beach today. The one I went to every summer since I was his age. I haven’t been back in almost 20 years. A lot of my childhood seems so small in retrospect. But not today. The ocean, the sandcastles, the lifeguard chair are the same size as I remember.
Photos I used to beat @bobbywest.bsky.social at Photo Club today.
Coolest part of today was finally getting my hands on Tales of Myth & Legend by @bobbywest.bsky.social et al. It’s enormous and ambitious and twisty and full of little things that are special to be discovered (reminds me of Zelda or Hollow Knight). But the teach was maybe 5 minutes long. Amazing.
Frig me, this IS becoming the @dvcgames.bsky.social social media page. This is Inkwell. Comparisons are made to Azul. I get why. Add powers. Add a sneaky Abbott timer. Add cool art. Add some metal cubes. Put in a portable box. Ensure there’s a DVC-cloth-mat(tm). Inkwell.
That is a really sick looking temple though
No, I’m not becoming the @dvcgames.bsky.social social media page. I just bought a bunch of their games, okay? This is Karnak, and it’s a not-co-op, co-op pattern building, sort-of dexterity (but not really) game. Which goes without saying.
Yay sample copies day. PPC of DUST is complete and all fits! MPC of Pacts, Scream Park, TYPESET reprints also good
Been posting some games I’ve been playing, so I’d be remiss not to post this current go-to fav of the last year. Here Lies, by those creatives at @dvcgames.bsky.social. Being on either side of the table as the pieces start to come together (or don’t) is quite a treat.
Our community had a blast playtesting this one and supporting a pillar in our community, Phil. Come and give your heart to the Monolith!
The Monolith from PlaidHat and designer Phil Gross melds the design work of today with long-gone aesthetics. Read more in this Meeple Mountain review. www.meeplemountain.com/reviews/the-... #BoardGames 4.5/5 ★
I could keep doing boring things OR keep playing this.
I am pickling my brain with tweaking all 72 examples on the cards in Photo Club. Ask obscure and specific design or business questions about anything DVC to entertain me, please.
Working on Here Lies II and Pacts: Legends at the same time is a different type of skill, and a different type of puzzle-y headache. It is one thing to set a standard, but making 'more' to build on the previous games is more about keeping that standard. It provides some unique challenges...
Just a few more pieces of art and then I get to make a nice copy of this oddball. Been trying to crack a very specific feeling in improv and deduction for YEARS and Jesse really found the missing pieces on this one.
upgrading some pacts 2 prototype cards for paytests yeah no i dont know what to keep secret never did im just excited we get to make things
Drafting the decks of Here Lies II from the playtested cards to build more cohesive decks.
