Hemingway's baby shoes has nothing on the economy or affective power of these two words. I'm in pieces.

My mum - who is in her 80s and doesn't use LLMs - is a complete sucker for these. She keeps sending me the news stories and I keep telling her they're marketing fantasies and she keeps inventing reasons why they're not.
I'm fascinated by this new form of PR that's emerged with LLM companies where they leak stories like 'our product spontaneously assembled an army of domestic appliances & announced it would exterminate the lowly hairless apes - we barely managed to pull the plug' to imply it's really powerful
Oh sure, I'm always excited for books.
1 like = 1 book question 📚💙
John is superbly knowledgeable and always interesting to read but this piece is also incredibly interesting for Twilight Struggle players who want more background history on a whole host of late war cards.
Given we are approaching that time of the year, my big piece from years back on the 1983 Cold War Crisis (and the role of Stanislav Petrov in it) over onto authory as a free-to-read. Over the years, the myth of what happened has been simplified. The reality was scarier. Because: Ronald Reagan.
After weeks of heatwaves and drought, the sun can get in the fucking bin, frankly. As can the mail and the telegraph.
BWM cars now showing owners and unskippable ad for the new Spider Man Film whenever they start the vehicle. This shit needs to become illegal, yesterday, else how long before you have to watch it *before* you can start the vehicle.
Small town terrorized by shark. Media starts giving a lot of airtime to the shark, allowing the shark to explain the logic behind its attacks. Shark becomes popular, and successfully runs for mayor on a platform of "sticking it to the woke anti-shark elite".
let's pretend: Universal announces a screenwriting contest for Jaws 5. What's your pitch?
Interestingly… Devon and Cornwall have cancelled their joint '60s & '70s retro music festival after a row over whether to put The Jam or Cream on first.
Dear God I'm obviously doing the wrong kind of software engineering, and I'd love to know what kind this is
That is indeed the shiest purple I've ever seen, it's barely peeking out.
Stage 3 Shyish Purple on main carapace and scales
Someone reached out to me about an interview based on a reddit post I'd made, so I asked who they were writing for
I have no idea who writes these blurbs but they're often terrible and I have never in all my life come across a mismatch as huge as the utterly tedious poster and write up of Hacks and it's acerbically brilliant reality
It makes me think of why Backrooms has struck a major chord. Everything looks uncanny now doesn't it, these institutions and organisations which are meant to serve a certain purpose but they've all been twisted, everything is off.
The amount of different things you can apply this very criticism to is staggering.
And that's the hardest automata in Wingspan Pocket beaten by a squeaky 2 points
Why would anyone want to see this? Why would I bother putting an image of something I immediately swipe away? Why would I cheat?
No cheating, post your lock screen. The shiniest ship I'd ever sat in myself! Might need to update now I have my own shiny Gaia.. but the verticaloty here makes it such a good phone wallpaper xD
TIL not to use the new daily sinus rinse I've been prescribed when I'm drunk because the combination makes me puke. Being middle aged is full of such fun discoveries.
Can anyone recommend me a good book about the history of African Americans in the US armed forces, ideally covering all service branches, please?
I uploaded this picture to Reddit and it was immediately banned by an automated service as NSFW. I had no idea veneer damage was considered dangerously risque
Alien Aliens Blade Runner Muppets Christmas Carol Fargo Not hard. In fact I don't think I've seen any of those franchise movies 6 times except perhaps Star Wars OT.
According to that meme thing going round, naming a film you have watched more than six times but not choosing Star Wars, Star Trek, The Lord of the Rings, Marvel, Disney or Studio Ghibli is hard. Really? I'm not buying it. People like all sorts of things.
christ if that’s not a metaphor for our times
My dog apparently standing on two legs is freaking me out
I've been using last FM for 16 years now and it's developed a pretty accurate all-time top twenty artists for me, although the ranking isn't neccessarily correct. 20th spot isn't right though: I'm not that big of a Tull fan. Should probably be Spiritualized.
People who play, write, design games! I want to crowd source good Shakespeare games - tabletop rpg and card/board games. Opinions/reviews appreciated. Bonus points if it's still available to buy, but out of print suggetions also welcome. #Shakespeare #games
This really is the most astonishing shrinking act. A "light" version of a game that loses comparatively little, instead of throwing the baby out with the bathwater like most such adaptations do.
What could be better than $6 burrito day? $6 burrito day and a game of Wingspan Pocket! @elizhargrave.bsky.social We love it! It's everything we wanted it to be! Wingspan vibes in a snappy 30 minute game. So good! @stonemaiergames.com #boardgames
Finally got a functional script that gets all the games on BGA, enriches them with BGG data, and spits out a CSV of the results. Any other fields or features you think might be useful here?
