New lab preprint! We know that FGF signaling drives ER+ breast cancer after treatment. Here, we asked how. ETV4, induced by Fgf1, does a lot in vitro but is only necessary (not sufficient) in vivo. Could it reflect high Fgf1 and indicate pending ER+ tumor therapy resistance in obesity?
The Ets transcription factor ETV4 regulates FGF1-dependent proliferation and glycolysis in ER-positive breast cancer https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.64898/2026.01.13.699240v1
I'm looking forward to this meeting, connecting with new colleagues, and learning more about FGF signaling! We'll be sharing work on Fgf1 and breast cancer progression. The destination couldn't be better 😉 @fusionconf.bsky.social

Our new preprint is out! We previously reported fewer subcutaneous adipocyte progenitors in obese female mice after sustained tamoxifen treatment. Here we show that tamoxifen suppresses Wnt family member Wisp2/Ccn5 to block estrogen's protection of these cells. Happy Holidays 😊

Does anyone want to collaborate on a #breastcancer #obesity #immune project who has a PhenoCycler or can analyze more than 7 protein markers per slide at once? I ran into a road block. #Science
Pretty sad. Just got the email that CZI is canceling the second round of Diversity Leadership Awards. Private industry will definitely not fill the hole that NIH and NSF are leaving. 😢💔
Despite the current uncertainty of being a scientist, I am excited to share our manuscript demonstrating an interesting mechanism of how swirling motion of breast cancer cells align collagen fibers radially at the tumor-stroma interface to enable their invasion (1/11) @thechaudhurilab.bsky.social

Science question... does anyone know what fraction (in general) of cholesterol is converted to steroid hormones in humans, vs other downstream cholesterol products? My husband says it's negligible... 😐 Does cholesterol go up after menopause in women?

Very proud of our 2 summer researchers, who worked in the lab between 1st and 2nd yr of med school. Great job at the symposium today, Michaela and Tom, and thank you for your hard work! Also thanks to Nisha and Jumana for volunteering to judge presentations 😎 #ProudPI

This is Ayla, named after my favorite book character (The Clan of the Cave Bear). She swims every day, no matter what. It's 57 degrees now, and the pool is frigid, but she just swam. Fitting, because Ayla in the book was famous for her daily swims, even breaking ice to get in #samandayla
In addition to science and gardening, I post about #samandayla and Ginger (no final # yet!) Front yard Paw Patrol reporting for duty, ready to alert about squirrels and falling leaves 🩷
First post. I'm working on a new strategy for setting and meeting goals. One personal goal is to read more books. To this end, I organized one of my bookshelves. Do you see one of your favorites? Stacks on the counter and what to put in the middle are in progress, but feeling centered now 😊
