Eve Samson has today been named as the 53rd Clerk of the House of Commons, following approval from The King. She is the first female Clerk. An engagement exercise which included staff, unions & Workplace Equality Networks was part of the selection process. Samson joined the Commons staff in 1986.

Yesterday, I voted to remove the two-child benefit cap, giving 2,000 children in Edinburgh North & Leith a fairer start in life and lifting them out of poverty.
