Getting 20% from a barely-existent campaign by a mostly unknown animal rights activist running as a first-time candidate with no law enforcement experience... might be a sign a more serious challenger could take on our sheriff...

Dane County Democratic Primary results for Sheriff w/81.9% reporting, incumbent Kalvin Barrett getting 79.2%, challenger Jack Ordman getting 20.3%.

I backed Juliana Bennett in this race, but wow, what a blessing for the folks of the 76th to have had the choice between an absolutely amazing set of candidates... no matter who advanced, they still get someone who will be great. Congrats to @dinaninaxo.bsky.social!!

I'm so proud of @dinaninaxo.bsky.social! Just won her primary & is all but guaranteed to become the first ever trans person elected to state office in Wisconsin. She continues the long line of LGBTQ+ rep won by people in Madison. She will be an incredible voice for the people in the Assembly! 🙌🏻

A woman with a chin-length bob and dressed in a flowy white shirt talks into a microphone in front of a crowd.

At every step in the WI-Gov primary, my message has been the same: whoever you've been supporting, commit to doing all you can to ensure that the nominee wins in November. It's all on the line.

"it all comes down to la crosse," you say, without knowing that's where lacroix was invented. you disgust me

you perverts like staring at wisconsin, huh? you like looking at maps with all of our stupid little counties? you can't help yourselves but whisper "fond du lac" and "shawano" while reading about ballot drops. you want to taste a cheese curd? huh?

I'm sorry Tyler Austin Harper had annoying colleagues and administrators at Bates but I want to submit that someone who went from Haverford to NYU to tenure-track at Bates to The Atlantic does not have an experience that is representative of The Humanities or American Academia as a whole

I wrote out some thoughts on the Hank Green situation cuz I thought both poles -- the anti-AI mob, and the backlash to the anti-AI mob -- are wrong, and I've been surprised by the low quality of discourse on this matter!!!

A good essay on responsible AI use - a rare find in the wild - by @mbolotnikova.bsky.social. So much of it just comes down to enjoying and cherishing, rather than trying to replace, what your brain can do. www.vox.com/future-perfe...

Some ppl in my intellectual community don't agree with me but I believe it's important to have a prosperous economy. & one of my master theories about the world is that we squander SO much of our natural resource base on animal agriculture, which is not economically important. 1/

Everyone knows the American West has been loaded up with too much water-intensive ag, and winding that back will be painful for some constituency no matter what, but we face no choice. The only way for American life & growth to continue to be viable in the region is to buy out 4/
