the Irish government continues to cater for the AI industry while ignoring independent experts, impacted communities, and CSOs "Prominent speaking slots at the event will feature US AI firms Google, Microsoft & OpenAI, with Meta, IBM, Intel, Nvidia, Amazon, Anthropic & AMD represented on panels"

Irish Gov is hosting its "International AI Summit" next week Even I was surprised by how industry heavy is it 83% of speakers are corporates, 0 independent experts, 1 union rep I'm not explicit about this in the piece -but- surely this is, at best, tone deaf? www.techpolicy.press/at-irelands-...

"The last thing I did is the report on Gaza naming what is happening there as genocide. One of the main reactions to that report [was] paying tribute to me for my courage.. why would you need courage to speak the truth?" Navi Pillay upon winning the 2026 Nobel peace prize

One reason social mobilization resonates at such scale in France is that the symbolism, imaginary and celebration of the revolution is so deeply rooted in the nation's political culture and DNA. And a student mobilization is particularly dangerous because they can stay out there a long time. 🤣

French student protesters vow to keep up their fight after scoring first win

The protests have snowballed into a wider movement, with more university students weighing in to express their anger over what they call a dysfunctional system.

Anthropic banning “abusive or cruel behavior” toward Claude in its new usage policies is proof to me that tech companies are going to moderate violence against AI before they ever moderate violence against women and minorities

A new Handbook of Evolutionary Psychology has just been published, in which it is claimed that the human species is polytypic: not only is race biologically meaningful but the races are distinct enough to be considered subspecies. Published by Elgar. In 2026.

Chapters in Part III take stock of the current state of evolutionary psychology, by casting wider attention to other social and behavioral sciences and assessing the field's influence on them. In Chapter 11 ('Evolutionary psychology and anthropology'), Heiner Rindermann identifies three major forces that oppose scientific anthropology: Religion, National Socialism ('Nazism'), and woke leftist ideology. Ironically, in this sense, woke left ideologues, who include most anthropologists themselves, geneticists, and other university academics, share much in common with the Nazis in their common opposition to scientific anthropology.
Rindermann's extensive review of the literature leaves no doubt that humans are genetically polytypic and contain different biological races or 'subspecies' At the end of the chapter, Rindermann delivers devastating rebuttals to all potential arguments against the notion of races/subspecies among humans.

Here’s what I do know. If someone white was doing half the stuff Blacksky has done in the last year, they’d be lauded as one of the most forward thinking and innovative people on the planet. But it just shows how progress is always happening, especially in places where folks don’t want to look

"Non-use is the default because we want use to be an intentional decision, reached through a reflexive process." This is a good policy document. More institutions / departments need to articulate explicit guidelines like this.

we have a policy for the use of genAI at the @aial.ie. we reflect on values key to scientific integrity, such as replicability, and err on the side of not using it blogpost: aial.ie/blog/gen-ai-... pdf: zenodo.org/records/2322...

I just came across this today when @tressiemcphd.bsky.social posted it on Instagram. I’m sharing it with my statistics students, some of whom clearly used AI on their first homework. My TAs and I will not police AI use, and this is why I’m giving an in-class midterm and final for the first time.

People do not understand how men who are white supremacists can have wives who are women of color and I need folks to realize that those men see their wives as subordinate property and not equals. These men are foaming at the mouth to bring back quadroon balls.
