I see a lot of people going "I understand AI is a moral outrage when it impacts *me*. But expecting me to avoid software written with AI would be very inconvenient for me. So you're going to have to allow some nuance into this discussion."

the crazy thing about this trend is how badly this exposes that these people have the same attachment and awareness of video games as scalpers do for pokemon

When starting Donkey Kong Land, there is a 1/8 chance the game will boot in a "paranoid ducking state" where Donkey Kong will constantly look around while ducking. This is actually a fault of the random number generator, which "locks in" to a single value and fails to be random.
thinking about when i was at a booth at PAX West with a very visually impressive, stylized indie game in front of me, and the first thing the (friendly and very reasonable, this isn't me shaming them) booth attendant said to me was "do you like cozy horror? :)"
I gave Braid an A+ back in my press days. I spent 100s of hours working on The Witness at PlayStation, fighting for it, getting it into conferences, and being Jon's personal wrangler. I even coined "Metroidbrainia" after it. I will not be buying Order of the Sinking Star, and neither should you.
