this isn't me trying to quell your joy from seeing states turn blue, it's to not forget the big picture. usamericans collectively stopped caring many times before when the country swings left. we can't let that happen, we have to keep striving for meaningful change. focus, still alot of ways to go
remember to refocus. US bombs will still kill kids. israel will still receive money from the US. cuba will still be under US sanctions. palestine will continue to be under occupation. ice will continue under dems. never relent pressure on your new elected officials. we're not free til we're all free
The last time Democrats had something like this margin was in the first two years of the Obama administration (257-178), but that majority was soon crushed by the Tea Party wave in 2010. Political power doesn't last forever. Use it or lose it.

Not saying it won't happen, but Iran is different from Iraq in the sense that it was never even close to popular, and also in the sense that there aren't troops on the ground. The implicit threat that Dems will get blamed if things go badly in Iran will be astronomically harder to spin.

I wrote about this, again in the context of Alex posting about calling your congressfolk about protecting trans rights, after the last election. For whatever reason, phone calls just hit harder than any other solo action.

A human staffer had to stop what they were doing and listen to human you fumble through a script. The more they have to do it, the longer it'll get talked about during meetings.
My high school friend who wound up a career Washington bureaucrat has told me many times that folks in Congress really do pay attention to what people call them about, and what they don't. Not just for votes, but for what people will stay late to work on, and what they will talk about.
