to be clear, because I have a lot of trans friends and I do not want to cause unnecessary freakouts, I think dems presently are very far away from where labour is and I do not believe the party as a whole is meaningfully moving in that direction but we have to make sure they don't take that path

"what if the democrats become labour on trans rights" is the nightmare scenario for trans people in the united states and avoiding that is why I think we need to continue pushing back on dems who waver as hard as possible

This point, from my recent interview with @perrybaconjr.bsky.social for TNR, is so crucial. Trans people are desperate for relief from the relentless Republican attacks impacting all of us. When Democrats move right, they signal relief may not be coming, and that engenders a lot of despair.

And so for Democrats to say, They have a point on some of this, it is engendering a lot of hopelessness and a lot of fear in the trans community, because we have been just trying to hold on, hoping that this time would end and we would be able to get back to where we were five years, six years ago. And what Democrats are signaling is, like, No, we’re going to keep things as they are, and maybe even make them worse.

this right here is why trans people are so upset about Dems capitulating and not holding the line at the edges, because even in places like NYC and MA where the local government is fully committed to protecting trans people, the institutions are willing to capitulate and throw us to the wolves

NEW: As Trump loses ground and lashes out, some remain willing to capitulate when it comes to anti-trans hate. More alarming settlements from medical providers in states that have laws aimed at stopping anti-trans discrimination. On Friday, it was NYU Langone and UPMC. Law Dork:

Literally zero patience for when someone posts about a thing that's happening in the world and someone responds smarmily like "that's been happening since the 1970s" or "that's been happening since 1682" well we didn't have Bluesky in 1682 so we're making the post now, deal with it

The accounting is in: In Oregon there are 111 data centers. The TOTAL number of people employed at data centers is just 2,630, or 0.1% of the labor force. Those 100 data centers consumer 23% of all electricity used in Oregon. Meanwhile, electricity rates skyrocket as more centers are built.

Oregon data centers by the numbers: 111 facilities consume nearly one-quarter of state’s power, according to new report

A first-of-its-kind report details the footprint of the controversial facilities.

I put out salt licks for the fairies, and quell their bloodthirst. In the cities you often find them inside old bags of chips, sodium-blasted, comatose

Sallieri: it’s an opera? Maid sallieri paid to spy on Mozart (crying): it’s a hip hopera (sob) about the founding fathers of America (sob) and they’re all black men rapping about voting, king George is black and it’s about Hamilton Sallieri: ( raising his hand to his mouth and facing the wall)

The new Apple Watches are out today. The terrible and gross live rewind / siri recap features are not part of the shipping versions and are still listed as "coming in beta late 2026". Hoping Apple bails on those entirely

I need to get an alcohol flask and fill it with water so I can stay hydrated at shows without winding up holding on to an empty plastic cup for an entire set

Republicans, in their infinite wisdom, left a big gambling loophole in the Medicaid work requirements. I'm no fan of the gambling industry, but if you are on Medicaid and struggling to deal with the work requirements, taking a $580 bet on both sides of an outcome is one way of getting around them.
