There's a wealthy village adjacent to my small city and we go there often for ice cream. Their streets are full of bikes, ebikes, scooters, golf carts, kids, and slow driving motorists. I attribute it completely to the street design and it pisses me off that we reserve it for the wealthy.
Passing a car stopped at a crosswalk is right up there with passing a school bus with its sign out. Both should be a no excuse go straight to jail offense.
San Diego voters approved more Midway housing twice, in 2020 and 2022. Both times, CEQA lawsuits over height threw out the results. 6 years later, it's still a parking lot. SB 958 would stop height alone from re-litigating reviewed sites. www.sandiegouniontribune.com/2026/07/31/o...

I've only started to go to North Park regularly since they installed the bike lanes. Before it was a nightmare to try and ride from downtown. Now we go at least once a month and spend money.

This person was going on and on about how businesses are not surviving because is reduced parking. He refuses to go there anymore for that very reason. So basically he’s punishing the very businesses he claims to care about.
Also whatever supposed loophole Solana Beach is getting SANDAG to use to let them avoid upzoning.

Absolute wingnut of a VW driver who close-passed me yesterday (I calculated the MAXIMUM gap could have been to be 19cm) has been reported to Op Snap. They'd better do their job on this one, else they'll get a 2nd formal complaint, via Professional Standards.
If it fits, I sits… illegally and unsafely in the protected bikelane, because there’s clearly nowhere else for a VIP (car owner) to park on this block. 🙄
A small disgusting detail here is one of the mix of headlines tossed on the screen as evidence of e-bike danger is about a bike rider being killed by a driver. Another is the photo of cop cars parked on the sidewalk being used as a generic illustration of "responsible agencies". Nasty work.

Last week, while walking my daughter home from camp in her stroller, a car with Virginia plates and $8000 in NY traffic fines blew threw a red light and honked at us to get out of the way while we crossed the street. Maybe start there instead of some dramatized Citi Bike nonsense.

How am I supposed to ride safely in the street when cars are allowed to go 25 miles an hour and I'm restrained to 15? Your proposals to restrict ebike behavior do not hold up to scrutiny.

JarekFA@jarekfa.bsky.social · 12mo agoThe street speed limit is 25 mph. We're supposed to take the lane in streets without bike lanes. This street literally has a sharrow indicating we take the lane. I'm going 21 mph when this driver illegally close passes me and my kid on ebike in Brooklyn. Limiting us to 15 mph puts us at greater risk
44,000 deaths per year from car violence, but yeah, let's put human-scaled mobility under the microscope. If you have a "problem" with bikes, it's because you're forcing them into the margins with pedestrians instead of reallocating space away from cars.

Thank you Oakland DOT for painting speed limit markings on the pavement at 7th St & on Broadway around the speed cameras, per my suggestion. The purpose of the camera program is to slow drivers, not to write tickets. So this helps make the 20 mph limit much more visible & hopefully help calm speeds

Also, an older couple was in the crosswalk with a driver waiting to turn left into the crosswalk. The lady held up her hand and yelled "STAY THERE! DON'T MOVE" Just seems like people shouldn't have to make a big deal out of using a crosswalk when they have the walk sign
