A walk with a difference today, as I was looking for the best place to see tomorrow's eclipse. It'll be about 90%, but the tricky thing is it'll be low to the horizon. I live in a forest.

Cover elements are cleaned and colour balanced. I'm arranging the cover now. It'll match fairly closely with Werecockroach's cover in terms of placement, only it's felt tips and a tree.

Turning reposts off per account is great as there are only a few I follow where this can be an issue. Mostly, I really like seeing people repost the stuff they love. I turned the beta thread numberer on, which I liked. But I hate the beta logo it put by my account name, so I turned it off again.

On early GenAI history, it reminded me of what warned me off it: a generator called Wombo that went viral in late 2021. In publishing circles, people generated abstract covers for their books as a meme. They weren't usable images.

Sorted various things today, including booking an eye test. In book news, I've set 21st September as the tentative release date for Wereconifer. I should have everything ready by the end of August, but it gives a little more room to deal with issues and not get tangled up with Worldcon.

I'm trying some ginger green tea. I'd like more ginger, but what's there does help conceal the bitterness. (I'm sensitive to bitter tastes, but green tea helps with my health stuff, so I've kept at it. I can drink a cup with a little honey now.)

Are you interested in the 2023 Hugo Awards fiasco? If so, and if you’re an attending or virtual member of this year’s Worldcon, you can now read a couple of relevant reports. 1/7

I'm looking for short solo TTRPG recommendations. Sometimes sold as one-page games, but longer is fine as long as it can be played by one person. Usually sold as a digital file to print with pen and paper type gameplay. All genres and styles welcome. Self-recs are fine.

It's been some days since I stopped the medication, so it seems to have worked for now. I was put on low dose amitriptyline for a month for nerve issues. It made me feel alert rather than sleepy, so I didn't take it too close to sleep. But the nerve stuff worked as it was supposed to.
