I was 18, an teenager in India, anxiously searching online communities- “can you become a doctor with a stutter”? Found no answers. During med school, I was advised to apply to non-patient facing specialties; not to be ambitious and apply for residency in the US - “too risky”. 1/4

In our recent paper looking at perceptions of care received by people with disabilities (PwD), we found that: -A higher proportion of PwD felt that they were not treated with respect by their healthcare professionals, not asked for opinions about their care, nor given easy to understand information
