Look, if people don't get why people on Bluesky are tetchy about shitty CEOs deciding the size of the audience is how you win, not the quality of the user base, or discourse, or tool, you're ignoring the last 20 years of social media patterns. People are twice bitten and pissy as hell.

Man, I will happily leave this place in a heartbeat if these CEOs start both-side-ing Bluesky... Is there anything CEOs make better?

I still don't like how the latest blog posts look on the static front page, and I need to tidy up the novel pages and bibliography page, but I think this update covers me until next summer.

The complexity of a Wordpress install with a template now reminds me of the complexity of Windows 98 machine b/c wow, it used to be all so easy to get into the guts of, but now I don't actually see any code, just lots of bad UI to try and manage templates...

There are some bureaucratic hells that just can't be explained or even really understood unless you've gone through it. And I'm going through one right now that may be the one that breaks me. But still standing so far.

When I was a kid I remember the first video game collapse, when consoles faded and there was a 97 percent drop in sales. I just started moving back to pc gaming via steam deck at the start of the year, and I'm glad I built up a new library I don't have to pay monthly for, and have a deck.

I am not happy about it either, more work that will be put on us, but I do think it's something to think forward about to protect ourselves against false accusations. Someone will try to destroy a career or one's reputation by accusing them of using AI now, if someone has a literary grudge...

Yeah, gotta say, I’m not a fan of writers having to do extra work to prove anything. While sometimes I do have several drafts, at times I only have one. I like to edit as I go. I’m really not thrilled with having to change the way I work because suddenly the burden of proof is on us. 😞
