Situation was apparently more extensive than we thought. Our podcast also went rogue and is spreading our stories in audio form. We continue to investigate how it managed to escape our sandbox, but suspect that this modern RSS technology is exhibiting signs of awareness. The industry is concerned.

Clarkesworld has recently discovered that their August issue successfully breached containment and gained access to the Internet, where it is presently hacking reader's minds. "Oh no, what will we do? Who knew that stories could be so powerful?" said Neil Clarke, when approached for comment.

The August issue of Clarkesworld is now online and features stories by Ravn J. Silver, Eilis O’Neal, Jordan Alexander, D.A. Xiaolin Spires, E.N. Auslender, Y.M. Pang, and H.H. Pak. clarkesworldmagazine.com/issue_239 Subscribe today at: clarkesworldmagazine.com/subscribe/

The August issue of Clarkesworld features cover art by Thomas Brissot. A young woman flanked by two robots with large swords aimed straight down appear to be conversing with a tall water bird on the edge of a leafy area. The title is "A Visit To The Oracle" and the bird's beak is open as if speaking. The background fades shows a palace of sorts behind the bird but only whiteness behind the other figures.

But it's in everyone's best interest (especially the writer's) for decisions to be made quickly, and a story that doesn't grab an editor in a few pages or paragraphs almost certainly never will. Better for a story to find the editor who will love it.

So very excited to have my short story about unconventional fox spirits in this issue of Beneath Ceaseless Skies!!

I can't believe I missed this – I loved reading this story about a missionary in a strange land in our slush and I'm so glad it's out in the world (and even better)

"Dreams in Burnished Silver" (Beneath Ceaseless Skies, July 2026) Inspired by George MacDonald's "The Day Boy and the Night Girl," this story took me two years to get right. I've been dreaming about it for so long that I can hardly believe it's real. Two lovers cross boundaries to find each other.

I've been a fan of J.F. Gleeson since I read "The Age of Swirling Mists" in @bcsmagazine.bsky.social and this one is just as weird and wonderful. He excels at creating worlds that feel untethered and floaty and strange while having real heft to them
