Can France still be governed under its current electoral system? After almost two years of parliamentary fragmentation, the situation remains unsettled: huge frustration, no stable majority and a presidential election already casting its polarising shadow over parliamentary life.

Today in @theguardian.com, I argue that Donald Trump’s foreign-policy playbook is increasingly about attention capture, or what I call geopolitical clickbait. Plus I outline why this matters for Europe & what to do about it. 🧵 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Over the past couple days I have seen so many accounts that *never* post anything political, speak out against ICE. I sincerely hope Dem leaders don’t let up. This momentum is everything.
A tipping point?
An important point. A study of police in Chicago police between Jan. 2011 and Dec. 2015, “found that more than half of the officers received fewer than one complaint a year. By contrast, the worst 1 percent of officers generated about 25 percent of the complaints.” www.theroot.com/how-to-go-fr...

En France, tenir ses promesses électorales ne rapporte rien
Une analyse des mandats présidentiels entre 1995 et 2022 montre que le respect – ou non – des promesses de campagne n’a aucun impact mesurable sur la popularité des présidents français.
