We had a look at a question I am really excited about: does an individuals intrinsic brain rhythm predict speech tracking and comprehension? And how do speech motor and auditory rhythms work together? by Christina Lubinus, @annekeitel.bsky.social @jonasobleser.bsky.social @davidpoeppel.bsky.social

Speech comprehension is thought to depend on #auditory - #motor interactions via brain rhythms. This study by @johannarimmele.bsky.social &co links theta and motor rhythms to stronger #speech tracking, the latter among those with high auditory-motor synchronization. 🧪 #AcademicSky plos.io/4fDnKY0

Individuals recruit brain rhythms for speech processing through different processing routes. Conceptual illustration of the involvement of intrinsic brain rhythms in speech processing. The image symbolizes our finding that only individuals with high auditory-motor synchronization behavior recruit intrinsic brain rhythms of speech motor brain areas for speech processing.

In 50 days time our members will be taking 5 weeks of strike action. We call for the redundancy process to be stopped! Executives want 200 jobs to go (187FTE). Due to resignations and retirements, and non-staff savings, they are 35FTE from their staffing target. Stop this cruel, flawed process.

Join us tomorrow at this event organised by Dundee Trades Union Council. It is for everyone who supports staff and students at the University of Dundee and wants to see the cuts stopped. Please come along and show your support. Thursday 16th July - 12:30pm Outside Bonar Hall, Nethergate, Dundee

Please tell at least one person about our public meeting to save jobs at the University of Dundee. We need to reach as many people affected by the closures to courses and services. Today, 6pm, Dundee Central Library.

We have written to the First Minister and deputy first minister. We have written and met with the SFC. We have asked local and regional MSPs to lobby on our behalf. We have informed SFC and UEG they have breached the conditions of funding. There has been no effective action to stop job cuts.

These past few weeks the fight for our uni has taken a new turn. We've lost ~700 staff already. Will it be 1000 in the end, with the management's "Strategy to Recovery"? Unis as a business vs as a place of research & education - coming to a head in Dundee and across the UK. More ⬇️

Today members of the Dundee UCU branch protested against their voices not being heard. “We are disappointed to learn that a paper that Dundee UCU was invited to submit to Court for inclusion in the Court’s workshop on University’s recovery was rejected without appeal.” 1/4

12 people stand in a line facing the camera outside the Bonar Hall building at the University of Dundee. Some have tape covering their mouths. They hold signs with the words “Dundee UCU”, and “Unions silenced again” on them.

Many thanks for your support @maggiechapman.bsky.social - the townhall with the excellent presentation by @melchem.bsky.social @ducuuo.bsky.social countering the doom & gloom narrative of uni exec finance, used as justification for further cuts, is still available as a recording to all staff.

Last week I attended the staff Townhall meeting @dundee.ac.uk. Dundee UCU told us about staff cuts, the impact of redundancies, & the urgent need for new direction. The University Executive Group must change course: compulsory redundancies are not the answer! open.substack.com/pu...

I have a migraine, but I'm so done with seeing these everywhere every few months that I had to send an email — and I know others have too. @irisvanrooij.bsky.social @dingemansemark.bsky.social Please, they must stop doing this. I'm so tired of this nonsense.
