Saw this review of The Iron Code anthology: "Lots of fun stories here, from high fantasy, to low fantasy, to gutter fantasy..." I'm 99% certain mine's the latter and I'll take it. In fact I think it's an awesome term for an as yet undiagnosed sub-genre. King of Gutter fantasy!
Tom Baker working on a construction site when he got the Doctor Who gig…
Me and me bros about to drop the best indie album of the eighties.
Project Hail Mary was really good but it would have reached incredible heights if they’d have gone with that scouser voice for the alien.
Here’s something to throw into all this ugly Odysseus discourse. The Odyssey and Iliad were originally part of a lost seven or eight book collection. One of them was about Memnon, king of what we now call Sudan. What might things be like in the classics and western culture generally had it survived?
I love funny bits in fantasy books that are only funny because you’re reading the book and are familiar with the world and its people. To me, that’s the Everest of worldbuilding.
"Seven wealthy towns contend for Homer dead, Through which the living Homer begged his bread". -Greek epigram, unknown author.
And for a bit of sapphic #SFF, in @danaiwrites.bsky.social's Vile Lady Villains, Queen of Mycenae Klytemnestra is interrupted post-murder by a dimension-hopping Lady Macbeth, and the two then tumble through another portal into a dangerous world of stories... 💙📚🪐 #Odyssey
Great times at The Iron Code book launch in London. I lost the game of musical chairs.
Despite what people might say, I am the FIRST person to be sat in a lotus position at a sci-fi panel

Niche post, but I wasn’t keen on them announcing a remake of Possession (1981), but now Margaret Qualley has just had a fractious divorce it’s clear she’s a true method actor. Bring it on.
Proud to publish @worrad.bsky.social again! "The Footage" is a great story alongside these fab #horror writers from around the world!
Mum has opinions about my career in this slightly sweaty unboxing of @starsandsabers.bsky.social horror anthology!

A friend once told me they got their whole philosophy from the back of a bottle of bleach: stand upright in a cool place.
The problem with writing fantasy novels is you can’t just pick a name like ‘Mike’ or ‘Rachel’ or something.
Rolled past this advert on my YouTube timeline and I swear I thought some kind of bear was about to leap on them.
Experiencing lockdown again, this time in Warhammer Total War. Unbelievable plague sweeping through kingdoms and my armies haven’t moved in four years for fear of spread. My dark elves didn’t build any infrastructure for handling plague. This is a horrible way to discover I’m Boris Johnson.
I swear I put a scotch egg in my satchel and now I’ve got to work it’s vanished. Was the yolk fae gold or something?
This is going to be an incredible horror anthology. So scary you’ll pee out your ears. Trust me, I’m a doctor.
A review of one of books said ‘Not as witty as it thinks it is’, which is curiously similar to my old school reports. Mr Hodges, is that you?
