September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month. I sat down to speak with Dr. Karen Rabin, a pediatric hematologist-oncologist, researcher, and Director of @ucsfchildrens.bsky.social Leukemia Program to talk about the importance of blood cancer awareness, research, and the work she does everyday.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the Hyde Amendment, one of the most harmful abortion restrictions ever enacted. The Hyde Amendment prohibits coverage of abortion care for individuals enrolled in the federal Medicaid program, and disproportionately targets low-income people who rely on Medicaid.

For too long, Black and brown communities have been subjected to discriminatory practices at the hands of our own government without proper accountability or acknowledgement. That legacy of racial inequality continues today as the Admin. kills American citizens & terrorizes immigrant communities.

Hearing the lived experiences of people whose family members and neighbors were murdered by ICE - and the dehumanization, coverups, and lies that their own government pushed in the aftermath, was absolutely heartbreaking.

Proud to partner with fellow Bay Area member @replsimon.bsky.social to introduce a bill, inspired by the case of the Port Chicago 50, to ensure marginalized communities who were harmed by the federal government have a path to rectify these injustices and demand accountability.

To close out Congressional Black Caucus week, I hosted a breakfast for constituents in town. We came together to remember that our history wasn’t inherited easily. It was carved in sacrifice, in imagination, in refusal. We belong to a lineage of Dellums & Lee, of Black Panthers, of freedom fighters.

This week, I joined my House and Senate Democratic colleagues to hear the testimony of people close to individuals who have been murdered by ICE agents and continue to demand accountability.

My health policy staffer, Addy, recently joined vision advocates to discuss the importance of vision care, our office's fight for disability justice in Congress, and innovative policies we can partner on to advance the fight for accessible care and resources for people with visual impairments.

Like many people in our district and across the country, I am deeply concerned about the rapid proliferation of data centers and the enormous energy demands they require.

I am so proud of the home care workers who have taken the historic first step to organize and fight for living wages, dignity, and strong Medicaid home care for all. This vote signals a shift in how care is recognized and supported in our country.

This week, I introduced my SEVENTH bill to help support small businesses. The "504 Program Level Flexibility Act," would give the SBA flexibility to raise the level of financing available in the 504 loan program during times of high demand.

California has long led the nation in protecting the health of our communities & cleaning up pollution from our ports and waterways. H.J.Res. 210 and H.J.Res. 213 would undermine California’s authority to require cleaner harbor craft, including ferries, tugboats, & workboats operating in our waters.

Today, I am voting NO on the Senate amendment to H.R. 5334, the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act, because the bill grants unnecessary sweeping new tariff authorities to the Executive Branch that could result in escalation.
