IDK why this seems just so off from my experiences growing up and now. The the entire Black and Latinx experience of traditional parties and get-togethers where you had friends and family over to eat and drink. Yeah, you cleaned but it was the social and communal aspect that made it worth it.

I would be more into virtual events/programs if people had their cameras on, used the mic and chat to contribute to the conversation and weren't actively doing something else.
Most people are signing up for virtual events now as placeholders with no intention of attending. It really really sucks. If you know you're not going to attend, please do not register and take up space.

For Latinx Heritage week at my son's school we made a paper mache vijagante mask for him to bring in. I used shredded EOBs (health insurance explanation of benefits) as the material 😂. The horns are not as long and pointed because I wanted to make sure he couldn't accidentally poke someone.
My new favorite hobby is yelling at people on the subway station stairs who won't move out of the way for a person ACTIVELY going up/down with a stroller.
I really wish they would stop trying to make every plotline from Black Mirror a reality.
