For all of their criticisms, if this UK government were to rejoin the EU and align this country with that of the rest or Europe then this will - in my eyes - be a successful government and I'd vote for them to remain in power in the next election (I'll be a citizen a UK by then 😁)

In May 2025, the government published a white paper called “Restoring control over the immigration system”. It proposed making it more difficult for migrants to qualify for permanent residence (also known as settlement, indefinite leave to remain or ILR). commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-bri...

E-petitions on increasing the qualifying period for indefinite leave to remain

Two e-petitions arguing against a proposed extension to the permanent residence qualifying period for migrants in the UK are being debated in Westminster Hall on 8 September 2025.

Experimentology is out today!!! A group of us wrote a free online textbook for experimental methods, available at experimentology.io - the idea was to integrate open science into all aspects of the experimental workflow from planning to design, analysis, and writing.

Experimentology cover: title and curves for distributions.

At our last meeting @jandrushko.bsky.social & Jason DeFreitas introduced the physiology & physics of #EMG & how to get optimal signals. They stressed the importance of: * setting up a low-noise lab * consistent electrode placement * digital filtering * amplitude normalisation A really useful talk!
