Is there a secret #OEGlobal26 event in San Francisco? You might think so based on this fog, but also because lots of places around Vancouver end up reprising the role of famous cities & other places in lots of movies. OMW to go get ready for day 2 of #OEGlobalYVR. Today's theme: building Bridges
#OEGlobalYVR #OEGlobal26 #OpenEducation #OER Inspired by the GO-GN Canada Hub and their approach to Land-based Learning that explores the intersections and tensions between open education and Indigenous knowledge ecampusontario.pressbooks.pub/openeducatio...

In the spirit of Curt Newton using the word "triptych" during his #OEGlobal26 session, here's our own three-parter from Vancouver :D
Good morning #OEGlobal26 from foggy New Westminster, BC! Drinking coffee and then heading over to The Permanent to start setting up for #OEGlobalYVR. See y'all soon!
Parents who try to get books banned deserve therapy for whatever happened in to them in their lives that got them to that point, because their children deserve to have parents that actually take the role seriously.
It's #BannedBooksWeek! The people who most frequently demand books are removed from libraries are well-documented villains. Rich people fund groups like Moms for Liberty bc fabricating moral outrage against librarians/writers/queer people is a great bait and switch against real problems.
Let books be. Today kicks off #BannedBooksWeek, an annual observation started more than 40 years ago in response to a sudden surge in attempts to censor or remove books in libraries, schools, and bookstores. Sound familiar? Find ways to get involved and spread the word: https://bit.ly/4yvixbB.
Onion flan, served with yellow cheese studded with hazelnuts and carrot, and a round of freshly-baked spice bread. Washed down with a glass of nettle beer.

A reminder that someone created a bot on here that just skeets out lines from Redwall books describing food. And that's great.
Laughter and merry chatter rose to the rafters of the big room beneath the Abbey. On the tables, preserved plums and honeyed blackberries vied for place with late spring salad and vegetable bakes.

The grapes of wrath WERE heavy, heavy with the vintage.
Tell me your most life-affirming literary opinion.
Some people choose to wear white balaclavas and sunglasses & go harass indigenous folks & people of color. I choose to spend time trying to be a more informed and decent person & explain to my 4yo why we wear orange shirts today and tomorrow, and help others do the same. You always have choices.
Canada's National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is this Wednesday 9/30. This is an opportunity to learn about historical & ongoing injustices perpetrated against indigenous people, and think about what actions we can take to address them. Many thanks to Musqueam for putting this video together.
🎤 Closing Keynote | Fri, Oct 9 | Livestreamed "Future Thinking: Sustaining the Field" Nicole Allen (SPARC), Dr. TJ Bliss, Prof. Jackeline Bucio-García & Prof. Luc Massou close #OEGlobal26 with an important question: how do we sustain this? https://twp.ai/S9FVx0 #OpenEducation #OER #OERPolicy
People underestimate the power of #mariachi. I'll always get misty eyed thinking about that time I was at a conference at UNAM in Mexico City & they closed it w/the uni's mariachi ORCHESTRA walking into the auditorium playing/singing Cielito Lindo & everyone in the auditorium joining in 😭
Pretty cool to learn about @emdashcms.com! Hopefully at some point it'll find its way into cPanel so us simpler folks can get it set up.
Hello and welcome to Monday, everyone! I hope it's kind to you, and if it's not, I hope you're kind to yourself.

Oh my goodness I remember thinking back then about how I was going gray... my beard was so consistently dark! Anyways, libraries pay publishers SO MUCH money for ebooks.
