🚨 📰 🌊 🥼 💻 🧪 🧑‍🔬 New publication on future changes in ocean carbon cycling lead by Samar Khatiwala. We applied a new decomposition into preformed (saturation and disequilibrium) and regenerated (soft tissue and carbonate) components, which is more accurate that previous methods.

We are recruiting a postdoctoral researcher in coupled atmosphere–ocean–wave modeling at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. The focus of the position is to advance a new Julia based wave mode, establish better coupling methods, and apply those in regional setups.

🌊 The ocean absorbs >90% of Earth’s excess heat, and our ability to track it depends on a fragile global network of floats, ships and sensors. New research warns that cuts to the Global Ocean Observing System could make climate signals indistinguishable from noise. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Critical dependence of global ocean heat monitoring on the ocean observing system - Nature Climate Change

International collaboration has facilitated a global ocean observing system, providing data to measure ocean heat content at a resolution that enables the tracking of climate change. This study looks ...

1/1 The GCP-Global Carbon Budget 2025 has just been published in its final form. It is the same data we released at the last COP in Nov 2025, but given the many improvements this budget introduced compared to previous editions, it underwent a longer and more detailed peer review process.

Global Carbon Budget 2025

Abstract. Accurate assessment of anthropogenic carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and their redistribution among the atmosphere, ocean, and terrestrial biosphere in a changing climate is critical to bette...
