This government is still sitting on parts of a buried report laying bare catastrophic risks facing us from ecosystems collapse. My message to @andyburnham.bsky.social: tell the truth. Release the report in full. And prepare the country for what's coming. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Green leader says ministers must stop ‘hiding the truth’ about threat to UK security from climate and nature crisis

Anyone who talks about climate mitigation in terms of affordability isn’t a serious politician. This is going to be a perpetual crisis situation for the rest of everyone’s lives, and the cost of the damage will be incalculable. Anything spent on effective mitigation is a good investment.

Reminder: Kathy Hochul gutted New York’s climate law because she claimed it’s “not affordable”. Aaaaaaaaa…. 🧵

This is true of all parties and it’s what I mean when I say: the press decide. If they decide your party is great and it should be booming in the polls, it’s plain sailing. If they decide you should fuck off, they suddenly start noticing your scandals.

There's roughly 10% of the UK electorate who periodically get enthusiastic about the possibility of left social democracy but are very easily persuaded out of it by some quick tabloid nonsense about the guy presenting it to them - it's fascinating really

🚨 HUGE DEVELOPMENT: (UK) Andrew Feinstein, the left-wing independent who ran for Holborn & St Pancras in 2024 and earned 18.9% of the vote, has said he WON'T be standing in the by-election for the seat. 👀 A KEY piece of the puzzle for Zack Polanski's hopes of winning the seat for the Green Party. ✅

Labour only got rid of Starmer because they felt electoral pressure from the left, they only went with Burnham because of that pressure & they'll only deliver left wing policies if they continue to feel that pressure. Donate to Zacks campaign here: donatetothe.greenparty.org.uk/london-by-el...

A far less established and powerful actor has decided he cannot appear alongside a very vocal bigot. So he has decided to decline what is probably a very important opportunity for him. And now Lipman is berating him in the mainstream press. Who's the bully here?

Andy Burnham says the bigger questions of oil and gas will come "at the right moment in time." On the eve of another heatwave when thousands of people have died already, when is a better time to rule out drilling for new oil and gas?

Good. Now we need action. Tax fossil fuel giants to pay for firefighting helicopters. A cool space in every community. A maximum working temperature. And no new oil and gas extraction in the North Sea. We cannot negotiate with the science. www.bbc.co.uk/weather/arti...

UK weather: Burnham to chair Cobra meeting on extreme heat as temperatures surge again

The Government will meet to discuss this summer's record-breaking heat as the tally for days above 30C in the UK is broken.
