Bit late to this trend, but I couldn't resist. Author, first page, front cover... or is it? 🕵🏻‍♀️🧁🔎 Come back here at midday on Wednesday 25th for the full cover reveal of 'Cinnamon Crumb, Baking Detective', my debut middle grade book, out this September with Usborne 🍰🎉

a portrait of author/illustrator Harry Woodgate (white; non-binary; with just-above-shoulder length curly brown hair; wearing glasses; smiling; wearing a denim jumpsuit with a non-binary pride flag pin; pictured in front of a blurry background of flowers and green foliage) inside an illustrated polaroid style frame on top of a blue background patterned with illustrated bakery items. Dotted around are various illustrations: a cupcake, a wooden spoon, some post-it notes, some string, a torch. A caption set inside an illustrated note reads 'The author (and illustrator)'The first page of 'Cinnamon Crumb Baking Detective: The Great Cake Caper' by Harry Woodgate. The page includes a chapterhead illustration of a shop sign shaped like a bread loaf, hanging from a snow-covered pole. A pigeon sits on the pole, looking left. Inside the sign, handwritten text reads: 'Chapter One: Crumb and Sons'. The book page is set on a blue background with a pattern of illustrated bakery items. A note at the bottom reads 'The First Page'. Other illustrations are dotted around: a whisk; a strawberry; some post-it-notes.A pen-and-ink illustration set inside a comic-style panel, of a girl grinning mischievously while wearing a disguise comprised of a pair of thick-rimmed glasses, a fake moustache and a too-large trenchcoat. Above her is a speech bubble caption, which reads 'Nice try. You'll have to come back here next Wednesday!' The comic-book panel is set on top of a blue background patterned with illustrated bakery items. Other illustrations include post-it notes; a torch; a custard cream; a magnifying glass; a cupcake. Inside an illustrated piece of notepaper reads the text 'The Front Cover'.

The holding cover features the title branding in bold gold coloured text; a subtitle reading ‘the irresistible fiction debut from author-illustrator Harry Woodgate; and a watercolour illustration of Cinnamon, the main character (a white 11 year old girl wearing a beret, orange roll neck jumper, red apron, denim shorts, purple tights, boots, and cream leg warmers, holding a torch and magnifying glass) and Snickerdoodle (a small biscuit coloured terrier) on a blue watercolour textured background. Around the book are some of the original ink drawings featured inside the book, including a tall town house, characters at a bakery stall, and a night time scene with falling snow.
