Always intrigued by the two or three freebie comics that are included with Collectorline backing boards. I’ve had stuff from the 1980s through to the late 2000s (multiple copies of Wildcats #1 too!) and the comics are clearly unread copies. Where have they been sitting all these decades?

In around a week and a half we'll have to start planning @thoughtbubbleuk.bsky.social Month at @brokenfrontier.bsky.social and chat to the @thoughtbubbleuk.bsky.social team about making it even bigger than the 75 reviews/interviews we ran last year. How is it that time of year already?
Hey, folks. There's a @gofundme.com set up for artist Andy Fish, who is going through a very tough fight with two forms of cancer. He and his wife, cartoonist Veronica Fish (my Blackwood series cohorts) could use some help during this very tough time. I'm donating, hope you can. tinyurl.com/4wa86a6c

Must order me a copy of this! Amazed no one mentioned it at Arc or SLCZF. I was suitably inspired by this amazing effort, and my #GOSHBFDD attempts, to dig deeper into Binjamin Bucket's life! 🤣 Apologies to Marvel for this silliness. #comics
So... @selfmadehero.bsky.social announced their COUNT BINFACE COMIC BOOK today so for round 3 of tonight's Gosh and Broken Frontier Drink and Draw Online something a little different. We want to see your Count Binface fan art! Post it here in 30 minutes with the hashtag #GoshBFDD
Just posting an interview I did with a veteran of comics to go up at @brokenfrontier.bsky.social soon and it's full of lovely little anecdotal bits about working for Neal Adams at Continuity in the '70s and all the people who passed through the offices and this is why I love the whole BF thing!
This was a very lovely thing to run because Alison was so generous in linking it to a moment of @brokenfrontier.bsky.social history from the @frederikhautain.bsky.social era!

I suppose the irony here is that twentysomething me in the pre-Internet ‘90s had greater access to DC advance review copies than fiftysomething me, the guiding force behind a multiple award-winning comics commentary site, has 30 years later. Ha. That’s rather tickled me.

Ah HITMAN… I had letters published in the first three issues (and quite a few later) because I had reached that hallowed level of letterhackery (real technical term) where you got sent black and white photocopies of issues months in advance so they had something fill the first lettercols with.
💕 It’s the season 💕
Oh god the Covid deniers are in resurgence aren’t they? Back in 2020-21 a couple of people in comics whose friendships I valued cut me dead for advocating for social distancing and mask-wearing. At the time I thought of it as friendships lost from my life. Now I think of it as ghouls exorcised.
my little sister did her hospital residency during COVID in Oakland (which was a hotspot) hahaha fuck the fuck off with whatever fantasy you think doctors were l coping with in 2020 because it's not what MY family was present for
RFK Jr said these words today on national television "There were ICUs that were empty all over the country including in New York at the height (of the pandemic)" hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha You are a fucking idiot hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha <sobs silently>
My award-winning comic BRAINS is available on my shop! You can snag a copy for $15. It's 40 pages of colorfully illustrated visual meditations on the brain, cognition, thinking, perceiving and BEING human in the face of all this so-called AI garbage. Brains... I just think they're neat!

And I hope, Broken Frontier now. I'm sure there are readers and contributors and would be-contributors to @brokenfrontier.bsky.social who would like to see their work in A1Deadline. Hopefully this highlights to them that this is possible and highlights Dave and where to apply to. If I can, you can.

So I've been branded a misogynist here on Bluesky for banning anything Harry Potter-themed at BF. Guess I can add that to the list of... (1) Small-time journalist (2) Typical hate-filled leftie (3) Pretentious c*** (4) Anti-AI freak (5) New to the scene Which should I choose for my business cards?
Sadly I can't get to this because it's the same day as Caption and I'm doing panels there but it looks so good! Wishing everyone at an amazing day of comics at Sequential. Hopefully next year...
This weekend is Sequential Scotland, the biggest and best indie comics event in Scotland! There's panels, workshops, art & cosplay competitions, and over 100 exhibitors. Quindrie won't be there because Eve is one of the co-organisers but lots of our creators will be! 🍂 sequentialscotland.co.uk
Why I have zero patience with anyone who supports someone like Rowling. I shouldn't have engaged today. I should have just blocked immediately.
Ah that's very reassuring to hear. I've learnt so much from my trans friends, colleagues, mentees and acquaintances in comics over the last few years. They've enriched my life and we'll keep on doing whatever we can to elevate and support them on multiple levels.

It is very weird to be honest that someone who has been (unsuccessfully) submitting stuff for review at BF for at least five years appears to have only just noticed where we stand on something like Rowling and transphobia.
