The more I play games this year, the more I think about how much the situation described subordinates the systems underlying it. In play situations take on a greater reality than the systems used to describe them, but the lens of game design is often way more focused on system than situation.

love when my cat (girlfriend) brings me a dead mouse (some white guy YouTuber I've never heard of) and starts meowing at me (complaining about how wrong he is) until I pet her (untranslatable t4t idiom). Love her so much (love her so much), thank you for sharing (untranslatable t4t idiom).

i reference Dream Askew / Dream Apart SO frequently when editing, giving design feedback, etc. & it's such a shame how few have played it relative to other indie games. it's such a groundbreaking set of systems & is upstream of basically every narrative TTRPG since it released. you GOTTA know it.
