Friday, The Lens sued GOHSEP to release its contract with ICE establishing immigrant detention wing in Angola. GOHSEP called the document "proprietary." But government contract terms aren't trade secrets. Grateful to the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press for support.

Wow. In the 18 toss-up House districts: "92% of Black voters and 75% of Hispanic voters were less likely to back a candidate who strongly supports Israel and continuing U.S. military aid. 61% of moderates were less likely to support a pro-Israel candidate, compared to just 33% who were more likely."
NEW poll in 18 toss-up districts (with a sample that voted Trump 48-45) shows independents & moderates are *not* looking for the archetypical Moderate candidate — and are not dissuaded if outsiders are labeled too far left. Strong support for Israel was the *least* appealing quality in a candidate.
74% of Harris voters believe the US should arrest Netanyahu. That is higher than the % of US voters who believe in democracy
New poll: Americans believe the U.S. should arrest Benjamin Netanyahu by a +22 margin Total: 49-27 Black: 53-13 Hispanic: 52-15 Ages 18-29: 58-17 Harris voters: 74-10 Independents: 55-20 23% of Trump voters agree as well Economist/YouGov:
New landlord is raising my rent 30%. In the fastest-shrinking metro area in the country. Where is this all gonna lead us.

no one wants to consider my insane pitch which is to eliminate timezones across the planet so we’re all on the exact same time and force everyone to change their conception of what a day is
The House overwhelmingly voted to pass a bill to make daylight saving time permanent

Here in Mexico City the first few trains of the metro are reserved for women and children. It feels amazing to look around a crowded public place and see only women. And I gebuinely think the experience of feeling relaxed in my body during crowded public transport has done something good to my brain
This game is ridiculous. Why does Haaland, the largest player, not simply eat the other team
Ah! Absolutely. You'll be fitter, happier, AND more productive. Comfortable -- but not drinking too much. Fond -- but not in love. And yeah, you're still kissing with saliva. The best part? You're a pig, in a cage, on antibiotics

ICE detainees in Louisiana are sitting for YEARS, caught in endless limbo.
“Stuck in Purgatory”: ICE Detention in Louisiana Can Stretch on for Years - Bolts
Louisiana has more ICE lockups than almost any other state. Now as a surge in habeas petitions overloads courts, people are held “unfathomably” long without recourse.

The number of people detained by ICE for over a year has soared—surging five-fold from March 2024 to March 2026. How the Trump admin has plunged people into indefinite detention with little recourse or opportunities to petition for freedom. boltsmag.org/louisiana-im...
Incredible chart from @propublica.org. If you don’t follow enviro stuff closely, your instinct might be that the hold-your-nose solution (carbon capture from fossil fuels) would be the “pragmatic” one versus covering Earth in solar panels, which seems utopian. In fact it’s the opposite
MORE THAN A YEAR?!??
In Louisiana, which has more ICE lockups than almost any state, a crisis of prolonged detention is accelerating. Data suggests that the number of immigrants in ICE custody for more than a year has spiked five-fold since 2024. Our story with The Lens Nola: boltsmag.org/louisia...

Come ON. We fought a revolutionary war over such abuses. We wrote habeas corpus into our Constitution. This is INTOLERABLE.
Orolua Eluonyechie has been held in immigration detention for more than two years. He filed a habeas petition to be released, but it sat for nine months without ever being reviewed. “It is a black hole. Nobody is paying attention to him,” his lawyer says.
