I did not know that Macklemore was touring with Ed Sheeran (who I did know was on tour) and I only heard about his Free Palestine message because of calls to boot him. Purely strategically, this is a mistake for Kraft and others who object to what he said.

The most viral I’ve ever gone here was when I pointed out that some Christians spoke about discrimination in the same way some pro-Israel Jews do (i.e., treating social pressure over one’s politics as a form of hate) and everyone decided that meant I was on the side of Christian nationalists
Piker's comments are not particularly unusual — along similar lines, some in the Jewish community point out that Israel's actions result in backlash toward Jews in the diaspora (again, not to absolve antisemitic perpetrators of blame but just to describe reality)
