Thankfully I already lack that kind of ego, because I have never felt more aesthetically ugly than after we moved to Portugal. These people are gorgeous. I call my dry cleaner the SuperModel Laundry. The couple who run it are heart-stopping. They are everywhere.

So to get this straight: You can be an immigrant to America, do everything right, and get arrested right after your court hearing about legal status, OR you can be a shitbag fugitive from justice whose father is already in jail, and get an expedited U.S. visa.

For years, I would, on my birthday, squat my agex10 for one rep. That shit ended when I turned 52, but now that I have access to a gym with a belt squat machine, I can revive the tradition. Turn 65 in two weeks. That is *just* at the limit of the machine, which is 150kg on each side.

I am practically alone in the fact that the last decade has made me more, not less, appreciative of the conventions of mainstream reporting. But the refusal to do more than to acknowledge yesterday's report from the House Judiciary Dems is beyond the pale

I emailed Patrick Healy, assistant managing editor for standards and trust at NYT, to ask why their story about a House report with new details of rape allegations against the President of the United States included neither those details, nor a single use of the word "rape." archive.is/1s9AM

Hi Patrick-

I'm reaching out regarding a story NYT published yesterday by Michael Gold titled "Democrats Call for Special Counsel to Scrutinize Trump ties to Epstein." It's about a report published yesterday by the House Judiciary Democrats further detailing President Trump's ties to Jeffrey Epstein and new details about allegations of rape against Trump.

One such allegation is from a Swiss model named Beatrice Keul, who the report says alleges in 1993 Trump "grabbed Keul from behind and forcibly raped her; in the process, tearing her dress and causing bleeding and bruising on multiple parts of her body.” These details are new, yet they didn't appear anywhere in Gold's story. In fact, the word "rape" does not appear in the story even once, despite multiple allegations. The story seems much more focused on the timing of the reports—a week before Election Day—and much less concerned with the gruesome details.

As someone who read all 53 pages of the report, I would like to understand NYT's avoidance of the word "rape" in a story about a report concerning rape allegations. If you could explain the rationale, I think it would be quite useful for me and for others.

Thank you,
Marisa

More of the same. They say stuff that they know isn't true to feed meat to their base, who are cult members so they lap it up. Yes, they could search the interwebs. Would take five seconds. But they don't and won't, and Rs know they won't. And on it goes.

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

Here is why I think there will not be a Blue Wave: The Republicans are absolute shits, but their voters will turn out for them -- abusers, shitbags, racists, whoever. Dem voters will not. Whatever issue is primary for them, if the candidate doesn't do it right, they don't turn out for them. Done.

I still can't believe this is real. When I first saw reports my reaction was, "The Onion is really on point with this one." I don't understand any of this. Like, zero. I watched the video, and it's a little tyke wrecking folks.

I spoke to the mom of the 3-year-old soccer star who was left "thinking he did something wrong" after a league official called police "due to a disturbance between parents" The youth sports league said they launched a review and reached out to the family

From Zelenskyy. Patriot interceptors that could save innocent lives are sitting in European countries for weeks, which they paid for, unable to be transferred to Ukraine because Hegseth refuses to sign off.

The USA’s failure to punish Trump for Jan 6th was just an historic betrayal of global democracy. What a shameful, abject and total failure of institutions and civil society.

Last night, Flávio's campaign's internal polls began to predict Lula's victory by a larger margin than expected.

So they moved on to Plan B: disrupt the election to pave the way for a coup.

The plan: Bolsonarist mayors boycotted public transportation to prevent their voters from going to the polls; the president of the TSE, Kássio Nunes, refused to intervene; Zanin ordered the extension of voting; now the Bolsonarists are starting to claim a coup to justify the defeat.

The next few weeks will be marked by instability. Trump won't recognize the election results. And we'll need to take to the streets to defend the electoral process.
