THIS. I was having a discussion with someone about these t-shirts and asked if they would be okay with people sitting in prominent spots wearing KKK or Nazi shirts, and they called me "extreme." I replied that "No, they are bigots who want to erase people just like transphobes."

Frankie de la Cretaz@thefrankiedlc.news · 18h ago

This is rough but I think it talks about a lot of what is missing from the Cunningham/WNBA discourse. Namely, that trans people are not hypothetical thought experiments. They are real people who are being genocided by our government & any coverage that doesn't center that reality misses the mark.

It seems like every day, something happens in the Trump administration that would bring down a presidency in normal times. It is a pity that these are not normal times. Watergate seems so quaint now, like a prank gone awry. It would be above the fold for half a news cycle.

Trump's guy is losing to someone who isn't even running anymore because his name is Amir Hassan and though he's an evangelical Christian, MAGAts assume he's Muslim. Who could've seen that coming?

The Downballot@the-downballot.com · 18h ago

Seems like an upset might be brewing in the GOP primary in #MI08 to take on Dem Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet. Trump endorsed Amir Hassan, but he currently trails an absolute nobody who suspended his campaign a month ago by a wide margin.

True, but he ain't wrong about air travel. Everything about it is worse, even the airport lounges, which pale in comparison to proper first-class lounges that are only for ticketed first-class passengers. Air travel is too inexpensive now for people to value its wonder.

Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.

air travel is one of those experiences that has gotten monotonically worse over my entire lifetime

question though: has *anything* in the last 40+ years genuinely gotten *better*?

like, there's *more* stuff, sure, but is any of it *better*?

For the past five months the only refugees the USA has accepted are white South Africans fleeing equality & safety meanwhile they are disappearing or strapping ankle monitors on any Haitian they can get ahold of. It needs to be understood how thoroughly connected these two things are.

So many Republican male lawmakers have been accused of physical and sexual violence against women that the report about this guy, who harassed his employees with unsolicited gifts, inappropriate comments, and demands for dinners, seems almost quaint. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/03/u...

House Ethics Panel Finds Rep. Chuck Edwards Likely Violated Sexual Harassment Rules

The Ethics Committee called for the censure of Representative Chuck Edwards, Republican of North Carolina, who showered two female staffers with lavish gifts and affection.

Whoo, lawdy (collapses into chair, fans self like a church lady), where to start? First, anyone who refuses treatment from staff of color should just be moved to a special room, where they can sit until such time as they figure out the value of medical assistance, no matter the provider.

"There's a real thing going on in the composition of the staff...does that not have to be looked at as well?" Nick Robinson, on Today, discussing this news.sky.com/story/nhs-st...

here's a fun lil exercise for cis people: how many articles would a publication have to print calling for your extermination before you would expect people who care about you to stop giving them money? and how would you feel if their excuse for still supporting them is some fuckass crossword puzzle?

I'm just going to keep screaming this until I'm hoarse, but until Trump the norm -- for 50 years -- was that sitting presidents had their taxes audited by the IRS and released to the public to show they were clean. But Trump refused repeatedly, and sued when his return was leaked, and now ... this

Kyle Griffin@kylegriffin1.bsky.social · 2d ago

FLAG: Trump gets to keep tax immunity for himself, his sons, and the Trump Organization under the new 'deal' struck by Todd Blanche. The new order also reaffirms that Trump won't have to pay any taxes he might have owed the IRS.

The long arm of Not Liking the Black Lady gets even longer as these maniacs find new ways to discriminate, deny and oppress. Perhaps lessons will be learned, but likely not. And history is most useful if people learn from it.

President Trump is banning students majoring in degrees that don’t make enough money from taking out college loans. Degrees for social work, art, religious studies, teaching aides, and music will be hit the hardest. trib.al/aaAEu6v

"don't make enough money" is a fig leaf All those degree programs--social work, art, etc.--have disproportionately female student bodies. This is designed to make it harder for women to attend college--college education being a key factor in women's autonomy from men & left-leaning voting pattern.
