The sense of gentle, convivial good-humour that one can enjoy with the well attuned kebab shop boss-man is worth its weight in gold

UPDATES: She’s fermented dry - coming in at around a cool 10% if my hydrometer is to be believed. She’s been racked into clean, new bottles and now it’s time for the big long rest. Sleep soundly luvvies.
Finally harvested the grapes in my garden before the damp took them. The first bottles of Chateaux Dunican should be ready in a couple of weeks!
Would sir care for something from the ‘Block me’ trolley?
Her energy is 100% ‘my friend has taken mushrooms on a posh night out in town we’ve planned for months’ and it’s a masterclass in poised, slightly brittle, smiley triage.
I don't really know Maya Jama but like her because she was really kind about what a total fuckwit move Richard E Grant made in the first minute of the game #thetraitors
There’s always some horrific revelation about Zap Chipmunk or Evil Sandwich or whatever stupid names nominal leftist internet “personalities” go by, and I’m happy to share them, but I have never heard of a single fucking one of these weirdos. It’s like reading a gossip column from another dimension.
This is how I will be introducing myself, going forward…
It is deeply unfair of today’s Guardian film quiz grid to not permit me the use of Guy Ritchies ‘Alladin’. Still absolutely fucking wild to me that that happened.
As evidenced by this 19th century illustration (particularly third from the left) ‘female hysteria’ is all too often confused with ‘Being absolutely DONE with your crap.’
For context, this is what she looked like as she said these heartbreakingly sincere words, through a cracking voice. She must be treasured and protected
imho Danni is the most outwardly neurodivergent GBBO cast member since perhaps Rahul. She says her biggest lesson from bake off was learning that in the right circumstances, she can make friends!
A SUGGESTION: If there are no women in your WhatsApp group, how about doing The Project Of Civilisation' a favour and just pretend, to yourself, that there are.
My favourite thing about this is the rogue Heroclix ‘Man-Thing’ figure making his way round the board
This gorgeous California Dreams board game exists and I would kill any and all of you to get my grubby mitts on it.
As a matter of some urgency, I need to know A. If anyone ever won that phone box B. What they, then, did with the phone box
Bill and Ted cereal exists. But, more importantly, Bill and Ted cereal with a chance to win AN ACTUAL PHONE BOX exists.
A helicopter landed on the playing field and out stepped LITERALLY THATCHER to come do assembly. FEAT: discredited Roschild goul Sir. Michael Richardson.
Bizarre things that happened in your assembly: We had a SERIOUS TALK™️ about how the Lambada was banned at our upcoming infant school roller disco.
These days everything is narcissist this and narcissist that. I tell you what, there wouldn’t be much theater without us!
Bizarre things that happened in your assembly: We had a SERIOUS TALK™️ about how the Lambada was banned at our upcoming infant school roller disco.
Bizarre things that happened in your assembly: each Friday a different teacher spoke on their topic of choice. One day an ancient English teacher overran by HALF AN HOUR, eating almost the whole first lesson. But I was late that day, so I was on my own thinking there'd been some sort of apocalypse.
Been having such a nostalgic time listening back to my ol’ D&D podcast. Was just reminded of this lovely bit of fan-art we received from the excellent @alisdaiross.bsky.social In-world, there were giant rat pegasi (morphologically distinct from giant bats) which served as public transport. Fun. Xx
Some belated thoughts on ‘Widows Bay’: Something that I really like about it is that it feels (to me at least) like they really asked themselves ‘what is common to both comedy and horror?’ In terms of how it’s shot, edited and lit/graded.
Today i had one of the weirdest electrical glitches I’ve ever encountered. Kitchen circuit tripped this morning. Identified the culprit as a blown fuse in the extension that feeds the washing machine. Changed the fuse but a test led to repetitive pops - denoting a short. Maybe it had gotten wet?
My latest career strategy involves getting up an hour earlier, moderately overdosing on my ADHD medication and sending as many brassnecking emails as I can before the kids wake up
In 2021, income tax personal allowance was frozen at £12,570. If aligned with inflation, it would now be £16,070. A minimum wage earner in England will pay extra £980 in income tax & NIC in 2026-27. Govt can easily increase personal allowance by £3,000, worth £600 to basic rate taxpayer.
This is how the Chancellor can increase the personal allowance and lift millions out of hardship
Sustained economic growth can’t be achieved without a major boost to the purchasing power of the bottom 50% of the population

I think the secret to being an artist with longevity is all about cunningly rebranding the ideas of ‘repeating yourself’ with ‘returning to your grand themes’
Could anyone who has made white wine before tell me what the fuck lefty here thinks he’s playing at. Is this ok? Am concerned that it’s going to be forcibly seized by The Cigarette Smoking Man soon.
Just the one birthday present this year but it’s a banger. We have wormsign.
I would be much more likely to visit the Lucas museum if there was a secret room, decked out to look like a slightly messy apartment, that was just a gallery full of pictures of Carrie Fisher having a nice time.
Chatting to a friend about the Tim Curry of it all. Question came up of, “But what was it that made him just so hypnotic?” My working hypothesis is that the fascination is a kind of atavistic vigilance. You can’t look away because HE is looks at YOU like he’s deciding whether or not to eat you.
Attention beloved autistic people in my phone - we have a new horse in the race:
Loved this man’s comics back in the day and now here he is making really fun looking retro-shooters. You love to see it .
Been working on another shooty-shooty 8-bit-styled game. Unlike previous things I've posted WIP vids of, I decided to shut the hell up about this one until it was nearly done. Should be out the door in October....
