Seeing a lot of fear-mongering on my timeline tonight from trans folks and allies outside of B.C. Yes, this result is what it is. But this is not a “stockpile your HRT now” situation. And I think suggesting people do that is uneccessary and actively harmful to people who actually live here.
Turnout is shockingly low with 85% of ballot boxes in. We might not crack 50%, and are miles away from the 58% turnout in 2024.

People in BC were so grumpy that this election was called—so much so that it's hard to gauge if these votes were driven by general unhappiness with the NDP vs a metaphorical middle finger to the government for making British Columbians head to the polls again so soon. Maybe a bit of both.

Disastrous, but this is BC’s tangible shift right under the NDP coming due. Pro-police, anti-harm reduction messaging has been driving politics in that province for years. The NDP has folded to it each time. Now BC learns what it’s like to live under the UCP.
