My hot take is that the extreme solipsism pervading game commentary on the internet stems from a lengthy tradition in video game journalism in which you catered to a teenager audience that was very solipsistic. The hatred-driven algorithms of Meta/TW have only compounded this.

I am the universal subject. If a game works for me, it logically works for everyone. Those who like a different experience must be deluded or willfully, maliciously dumb. This feels like the basis of so much rpg commentary, going back all the way to the beginning.
