I remember being excited about the Google glasses for like a minute because of how many pictures of my kids I missed because my hands were full or I couldn’t get my phone out in time. But I have never thought of another pro-social/non-creepy use for these things.
When I finally watched Jaws last year, it did nothing for me. I realized while watching it that I had already absorbed even the smallest elements of the film through cultural osmosis. It had been more than spoiled. It had been completely neutered into a meme collage.

Yes, Emily Blunt is amazing, and for as messy and clunky as it is, I still ended up liking it a surprising amount, but my top-line review of Disclosure Day is: THAT IS NOT WHAT EMPATHY IS
The mistake was thinking that it hadn’t already been decided that Susan Collin’s was going to keep her seat.

So, obviously not what “disarray” means, but also, there are no shortage of examples where fields being cleared and candidates going untested is why they later lost in the general. This is what the process is supposed to look like.
Burgess Everett@burgessev.bsky.social · 5mo agoSenate Democrats are in *disarray* in four key Senate races: Michigan, Maine, Minnesota and Iowa - Totally new dynamic for Dems, who stage-managed primaries effectively for 15 or so years. Schumer + DSCC have their views, but lots of senators squaring off in opposite sides of primaries.
These security questions are all only things I either have no answer to, or a wishy washy answer I won’t be able to remember 5 years from now when I need it.

It is kind of a marvel. For a live recording it’s a fairly clear sound, the vocals are up in the mix, Stipe has a powerful controlled delivery, the instruments aren’t overpowering, the pacing isn’t terribly fast, but after the first 5-6 words I’m just completely lost.

I could be sympathetic to someone with the radical free speech take that a platform for anyone needs to be a platform for everyone. It’s not my position, but I get it. It is something else though when you’re intentionally cross promoting nazi content and knowingly taking a cut of their profits.
