NOW: Anti-ICE protesters are blocking both sides of the 101 Freeway near the Alameda Street exit in DTLA. The CHP has since closed that portion of the freeway.
This is my favorite picture of Stonewall. They knew they were getting arrested just for being LGBTQ+. Yet... they're still here, standing outside of the boarded up Stonewall Inn, smiling as the world was at a fever pitch of hatred against them. I think about it a lot in moments like this.
I am reading a book called Wonder. I am reading it because my 11 year old grandson is reading it and we can now talk about it together. Share the kids books of today.
@chrismurphyct.bsky.social: “What Trump said is he wants the federal government to take a 50% stake in Tiktok. That means he gets to run Tiktok. Well, Don. Jr gets to run Twitter. Once again, you're seeing the Trump administration try assiduously… to have state run, state controlled media.”
Nazis: "that's a nazi salute" Historians: "that's a nazi salute" Average person: "that's a nazi salute" The Media: "Elon Musk makes odd gesture throwing his heart to the crowd."

With TikTok, meta, corporate media, and Twitter controlled by Trump, I feel like we’re throwing sticks at a tank.
One thing before tomorrow: Use your local libraries. Get your card. Borrow books, manga, films, audios, ebooks. Recommend titles for purchase (usually online). Attend promoted activities. Fill out those "How are we doing?" questionnaires. Tell your kids that libraries are good. They are. 📚
This was our first click ap post. Feels right that’s it’s our first Bluesky video post. It’s been 4 years, one move and thousands of books since this video. We are excited for more!
I used to love reading dystopian fiction in high school. Reaaaaally not enjoying living through dystopian reality as an adult.
And you can transfer all your Goodreads data over Storygraph easily, so you don't have to start over!

Question for my small biz friends: IG is where most traction for my biz comes from, follower base is super local and tuned into what we are doing, making it hard to give up. What do you all plan to move to as we divest ourselves of all things meta? #booksky #smallbusiness #bookstore
For Booksky 📚 ❌ Goodreads: owned by Amazon. ✅ StoryGraph: black woman-owned, inclusive, has mood based recommendations! ❌ Audible: owned by Amazon. ✅ Libro.fm: supports local books stores.
