Speaking of #hatchling comedy, we had this exchange the other day after indulging in the classic pastime of pretending to eat each other. H: no eat me! I’m a child! Me: I can’t eat you, but you can eat me?! Why?? H: It’s funny!
It’s still going to be 27 degrees at 10pm tonight, no why. Truly the smallest reason to hate climate change is the extent to which it is inconveniencing me personally, but also. I hate it!!
Some recent #hatchling delights: - she’s into playing hide and seek but when I finish counting she jumps up and goes ‘here I am!’ - she says ‘no please’ instead of ‘no thank you’ - she runs into my arms every time I pick her up from nursery, it’s the best
I think our most heroic parental sacrifice to date has been the fact that our one a/c unit is in the hatchling’s room, not ours. God last night was bad.

Mrs P taught religious studies and philosophy and was far more interested in her students’ opinions and hosting interesting discussions than she was in drilling the syllabus into us. She did a session on Plato’s cave in that weird gap between GCSEs and A-Levels that changed everything for me.

A music teacher told 7yo me I couldn’t sing, and I just fully accepted that as fact for years and resigned myself to only ever doing non-musical theatre. So many school plays I missed out on! Finally made up for lost time and was the lead in a musical at the Fringe, so suck on that Miss E.
