I'm looking to buy a new laptop, and i can't believe 8GB RAM models are still being sold, while higher end models come with 64GB or more. That's a huge spread! BTW, if you have any recommendations for a good Linux laptop, i'm all ears. I'm thinking of going for a ThinkPad T o P series.

so disappointing how many ppl I see preemptively convincing themselves they can't learn a thing w/o giving it a real effort over time bc they think natural aptitude is the defining factor of skill acquisition. the only diff btwn them & the ppl who can do the thing is that the latter just kept trying

A major problem with using LLMs to learn things: Me: "A is true, therefore B is false, right?" LLM: "Right! Here's a ton of detail to confirm your belief." Me: "Actually, A is false; B is true." LLM: "Exactly right! Here's more detail to confirm that belief."

every now and then i ask ChatGPT something that seems simple but i suspect it might do wrong because of being a next-word-predictor watching this state of the art models fail at something simple helps me conceptualize how most (all?) of this is just a giant tech bubble waiting to burst
