We are thrilled to be at USASP in Philadelphia! Looking forward to a week of great science. @karapedsgastrodoc.bsky.social @sarahanajjar.bsky.social @sdavidson.bsky.social @elisadamo.bsky.social @tonelloraquel.bsky.social @mariafialho.bsky.social @pazduran.bsky.social @badrsokrat.bsky.social
I'm thrilled to announce that my lab has received our first R01 to study mechanisms of astringency transduction and sensation! Totally fitting that my first R01 would bring together two of my loves- neuroscience and wine. We're all so excited to get to study this understudied aspect of flavor.
Mice show, “First Aid” behaviors toward unresponsive peers, including licking, tongue pulling, and grooming, which speeds recovery. The medial amygdala and oxytocin neurons encode these states and mediate distinct #NeuralMechanismsOfRescue #TongueGroomingBehavior www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
A neural basis for prosocial behavior toward unresponsive individuals
Humans often take actions to assist others experiencing unresponsiveness, such as transient loss of consciousness. How other animals react to unresponsive conspecifics—and the neural mechanisms drivin...
