My favourite thing about the movie is like, it feels like a movie. It feels like a real, like, y’know, a go to the theatre film movie.

Just found out about it and this hurt a lot. Especially because this means I am terminating the super discounted subscription fee I've had for years.
First time I’ve seen this in the credits. Heretic. Great film too.
Big congrats to Jafar Panahi on the Palm d'Or!! Reposting my tribute poster I did for his previous film No Bears, when he was still in prison. SO glad he got to receive the award in person, cannot wait to see It Was Just an Accident.
"i dont know what id do widdout my chatgpt 🥺👉👈" Oh my god go back to Baby School you fucking failure
For those puzzled why the strong box office opening of SINNERS is being framed as disappointing somehow, Vulture gave the game away two days ago. Studios are freaking out about letting the copyright revert to Coogler, so the film can't be seen as a success. The fix is in.
Hollywood studio executives are sweating over Warner Bros.’ unusual rights agreement with Ryan Coogler for ‘Sinners,’ with some saying it ‘could end the studio system.’
JKR funded the campaign group behind all this btw. This is why we beg you to stop engaging with Harry Potter media.
The UK Supreme Court has unanimously decided that the definition of sex under the Equality Act 2010 refers solely to biological sex, and does not include people with a Gender Recognition Certificate.
1/4 Well look at that. Open Ai and Google outright reject “Opt-Out” models, hell they even reject basic transparency requirements. AI companies demand they get everything, including our Intellectual Property, for free, and without anyone ever being able to tell the companies no.
AI giants reject government’s approach to solving copyright row
OpenAI and Google have objected to Labour’s proposed opt-out model and pushed for broader exemptions to let AI software use copyrighted material free

"AI art Ghibli trend" but it's Miyazaki's reaction and actually art
I have shared this story, this thread, before - but I think given the state of the world, it's worth telling once again. Maybe it can help, especially if like me, you make art, and you wonder what the use of all of it is right now.
So ICE has effectively disappeared a student for protesting Israel's genocide, separating him from his 8 month pregnant wife. Pure fascism
UPDATE—Mahmoud's attorney says they do NOT know where he is. They were first told he was sent to an ICE facility in Elizabeth, NJ. But when his 8-month-pregnant wife tried to visit him, she was told he's not there. They've received reports he may be sent as far away as Louisiana.
Palestinians are already saying that no food or aid is allowed in & they’re terrified of yet another manufactured famine. With water being their only main resource left, they are doubling down on the genocide and taking away electricity prevents anyone from immediately reporting on what’s happening

“Once you decide that a single vulnerable minority can be sacrificed, you’re operating within a fascist logic,” they said. “That means there might be a second one you’re willing to sacrifice and a third, a fourth. Then what happens?”
Abandoning trans people is 'fascist logic', says leading feminist philosopher

Sean Baker had *the* acceptance speech of the evening for his #SpiritAwards win for Best Director for ANORA, taking time to bring into focus how indie filmmakers don’t get paid what they’re worth AND SHOULD.
I'm biased but I genuinely think Hollywood is leaving money on the table not commissioning bespoke illustrated posters. Outside of like Dune these are literally the only posters I remember from the past 5 years and I've only seen one of these
Yes!! Recently in Japan more movies are releasing illustrated alternative posters separately from the main poster to target different audiences. And they are so good!! A famous example is the Midsommar one, it got so popular that A24 released a limited edition print and it sold out in seconds!

Public libraries are amazing! Did you know you can borrow a book from any library in the country and return it to any other library? Did you know they have subscriptions to huge amounts of national and international media that you can access?
Realizing that most video content from artists that does well sells the aesthetic IDEA of being an artist more than the art itself. The art is incidental

yeah ill bang this drum as many times as i need to, everything produced by generative ai is a "hallucination." Accuracy is a coincidence
i’m very open to ChatGPT having some utility. but a few times for If Books Could Kill i’ve asked ChatGPT to aggregate existing sources of criticism for a book. what it produces are without fail almost entirely hallucinations. and not just one, i mean lists of 5-6 articles that do not exist.
