Nerd. Mostly here for authors and cats. And politics.
We report: we are here with our expert, watching a large flock of jackdaws scouring the fields in the east. They keep circling back to our spot. There are dozens of birds, their flight chaotic and unpredictable. We are here for a long time, so we get a bit of sunset colours too.
I want to help Marie complete her utter domination by getting her the resources she needs. If we could print her tens of thousands of red cards, I have faith that she would distribute them ALL. So help us help Marie. www.gofundme.com/f/fund-whist...

I am angry tonight. Because tonight ICE shot a New Yorker. They shot a New Yorker while his five year old child was in the car. ICE makes this city less safe. We want them out. Now.
Another classic, not sure if I've already posted this one here.

Kasey Gifford@kaseygifford.bsky.social · 4d agoTo put this in perspective chestnut trees used to be dominant species in the United States. Billions of trees were killed by fungal blight and now fully grown America chestnuts are functionally extinct. There is no getting them back. Ever. *so important*: if you’re voting by mail, assume the USPS will delay because it’s its policy. You can: —put it in drop box —go to counter to watch them postmark in front of you —if you’re dropping it in a mailbox, do it VERY EARLY.
Bolts@boltsmag.org · 5d agoMany states require that mail ballots be postmarked by a specific day. But due to a USPS rule announced late last year, voters may need to put their ballot in a mailbox days in advance.
The government *still* isn’t tracking how often immigration agents detain U.S. citizens. We are. 500+ Americans have been handcuffed, held at gunpoint or held against their will in Trump’s second term. Our tally is almost certainly an undercount. THREAD (content warning: violence) ⬇️
I've been busy with IRL stuff and building a long term plan for my illustration career, so I curb my time doomscrolling here. Here's a quick Michael Burnham painting as a proof that I am still posting here ✨ #StarTrek #StarTrekDiscovery

You guys want to hear a short but adorable story that happened right in front of me at the baggage claim in NYC yesterday? I wasn't part of it and there are bits I didn't catch but holy crap, I can't stop thinking about it.

MR ROGERS’ NEIGHBOURHOOD
MR ROGERS:
Hi there
2
Today, I’d like to take you to visit some of my neighbours…
[He puts his coat on to leave his house]
3
At a wonderful local event,
[We see the cute toy-town diorama of his village famous from the TV show. The camera pulls out…]
4
The Data Center protest.
[The camera has pulled out further and now we see a huge DATA CENTER at the edge of town].
5
MR ROGERS [joining a crowd protesting outside the Data Center]:
The Data Center is an enormous, windowless, endlessly humming building outside of our town
6
…Which has tripled energy prices, drank all the water, and created four jobs.
7
[to camera, as if kindly explaining to the viewing children]:
Four jobs! Golly!
8
LADY PROTESTOR [probably NAOMI KLEIN, holding a sign]:
In a way, the Data Center is kind of a vivid metaphor for a future we feel locked out of!
9
MR ROGERS [to camera again]:
A metaphor.
10
That’s something that lets us clarify our feelings about something else.
11
LADY PROTESTOR:
How do you feel, Mr Rogers?
MR ROGERS:
I feel like bringing down the government!
12
MR ROGERS [now holding a sign and protesting]:
It’s good to have neighbors.

I have a Big Ask from our community. Many of you will remember our graduates Pikachu and Eevee, who were adopted together. Eevee had dealt with some very challenging chronic diarrhea while she was a kitten, but before adoption, we figured out a food that worked for her & she was all better (thread)
