You can/should read Emily Wilson's latest take on the Odyssey, but I'm logging on to convey my hairdresser's reaction. She was AGHAST that Nolan, with his million $ budget, gave Matt Damon ONLY 6 hair extensions. As a result, his hair did not blow around properly, & that ruined the film for her.

There's nothing new under the sun! You *will* develop your own style as long as you write unchained! That's keeps you from sounding derivative, no matter how closely you hew to a genre's tropes!

I went on eX-Twitter for about 7 minutes earlier this week (out of necessity, not desire) and honestly wouldn't even recommend that much exposure to it. 🤷🏻 If nothing else, it was a great way to shut down the "...but maybe-" illogical thoughts.

Nope! Went back on there for the first time in ~a year and a half earlier this week (because someone/something had tried to access my dormant account, so I had to change my password), and even just scrolling through was a mistake. It feels like a dying mall that lets people openly brandish knives.

It continues to surprise me how genuinely *helpful* it seems to be to give actors an explicit "Our foremost priority is making sure you feel comfortable and safe" in-session. To my mind, that duty of care's…the bare minimum of doing art collaboratively? Of course I want you to be comfy and safe!
