“It’s time to make oil giants pay up to repair the climate breakdown they’re driving. Think how many fire and flood defences we could build, or how many solar panels we could install, if big oil paid their fair share in taxes.” @patrickgaley.bsky.social @fossiltreaty.bsky.social

Hey Internet, I'm looking for a favour: - Anyone who is or knows doctors or healthworkers who operate in the UK and would like to talk about their experiences working during heatwaves... please DM me Thank you in advance!

This is truly, wildly, insane. At a time when people are deep in energy debt. In the world's 5th largest economy, where people need to access heat banks in winter to not freeze to death Energy demand for planned data centres = 75GW Peak current UK demand = 45GW www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

Datacentre projects could face fees for grid access to ease connection queue, Ofgem says

Energy regulator’s plan would mean upfront fees or financial security via letters of credit, bonds or cash deposits

We had a planet with all we ever needed. The fact that we fucked it up so bad hurts “what scares me the most when faced with the death & disease & exhaustion & pain that comes, is that, unless we stop the #FossilFuel industry from profitably poisoning us to death: this will be the coolest summer”

Beautiful, tragic, wise, hopeful piece about the crisis that is already shaping all our lives, even though many of us still don't know it yet. Worth the time to read, even for those of us who already know... perhaps particularly for those of us who already know. #ClimateSky

So that's it, is it? We will make chips for fake text generators to delete humans from the economy and make autonomous killing machines and that... equals growth? How are these guys so completely out of ideas? www.ft.com/content/5b78...

Make some time to read this. Maybe make a cup of tea first. (They say that validation - having your fears acknowledged - is part of the process of 'caring' for our climate grief/anxiety. I'm glad I read this today.)

Reading this after the @gregorynorminton.bsky.social piece it quotes and it is searing. For any of us there won't just be one moment of realisation, that we've passed from one state into another. Find ways to help each other through these times. This is one.
