Here's a fun project. One of my friends has written a Python wrapper for all of the Lionel TMCC/LCS command sets, which gives us the ability to build custom physical *and* digital controllers. Here's a RPi with a 10in touchscreen that can toggle the power to all of my blocks. So many possibilites!

My wife taught our dog to ring a wireless doorbell when he wanted to come inside, instead of scratching at the door. I even 3D printed him a foot pedal to make it easier. Now he’ll ring it as many times as it takes to be let in, or to voice his displeasure at being put outside.
