A quick word on Taco Bell: That's where we found the suspected lettuce, and it's not bc Taco Bell is gross. It's bc Taco Bell is REALLY GOOD at tracing product! Keeping track of exactly where they got their ingredients, & exactly what restaurants each shipment of ingredients went to!

I quite adored this book, my favorite from Premee Mohamed so far! Although, now that I read the subtitle I wrote for the review, there's only one manticore and one vampire! Plenty of spies tho!

I did not anticipate how hard it would be to find collaborators in Edmonton. Throwing a bottle out to sea looking for an opera singer versed in extended technique and comfortable with physical performance for a short performance (12 min) in September at U of A. Paid gig, weird art. Reach out.

To process the chaos, I'm spending a few minutes each night stitching a news diary--embroidering tiny icons representing an important story of the day. July was a bit of a whirlwind, and not just because of the pyrocumulonimbus clouds.

If you are 38 years old or older, I want you to start working on your foot strength and ankle mobility. Unless I hate you. Then I want you to rest for ten years and then suddenly try to hop off a step one day, cold.

I have managed to finish three books this week that have been lingering on my 'in progress' shelf for months. One was Charles De Lint's first book in the Newford series. I picked that up because he's such a prolific Canadian author; I struggled to connect with it but couldn't quite explain why.

Super enjoyed @kateheartfield.com's discussion about prose in her newsletter today! She talked about what she thinks of as "jello" prose, defining it as: "it takes up volume without being satisfying, and it’s too slippery for my mind to engage with."

Concerns over fake phenomena cannot be held in good faith. There's no such thing as "good faith" concern over razorblades in Halloween apples or vaccines causing autism. If you still have 'concerns' about these issues you are uninformed, a bigot or being manipulated. No other option.

Good-faith concern on this issue would be going, "hmm, professional sports leagues should probably have some standards in place to ensure trans competitors aren't getting an unfair advantage," googling for 5 minutes, realizing every sports league already has those standards and dropping it.
