⚠️⚠️ @jacquet-chris.bsky.social and I are organizing the 2nd "non seed plant" French meeting. As for the one in 2025, the goal is to better structure our emerging community across French institutes. It will take place in Toulouse, June 24th-25th. Registration 🔽 nonseedplants26.sciencesconf.org
Nikolas and I just published our insights on CLEs in plant–bio interactions. Too short to cover everything, but we hope it gets you also excited about these peptides. Thanks to @newphyt.bsky.social for the opportunity

What can we learn from the first GWAS on bryophyte immunity? Have these plants evolved immune mechanisms similar to or different from those of angiosperms? (Spoiler: both!) Our latest paper is out in PNAS! www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.2532723123 #Marchantia #Colletotrichum #EVOteam #LRSV
4/9 After characterizing the infection strategy of Colleto (with the help and guidance of @baptistebio.bsky.social and @jacquet-chris.bsky.social), Karima soon realized that the #MyMarchantia accessions we have in our collection were not all sensitive to that beast !
1/9 Our latest paper on immunity mechanisms in Marchantia just out @pnas.org ! 🔽 Close collaboration between our former PhD students @karimaelm.bsky.social and @chloe-beaulieu.bsky.social ! and the old gard @jacquet-chris.bsky.social @maximebonhomme.bsky.social www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...

🌟 AeRLCK2 & AeCRK2: new players in immunity & symbiosis Mutations in two Nod-independent symbiotic genes heightened disease resistance.⚡ 8/9
🤷What’s new? Unlike many model legumes, Aeschynomene evenia forms symbiosis with rhizobia without Nod factors! This makes it a unique model to explore how plants balance immunity and symbiosis with specific, Nod-independent pathways. 🦠🤝🌱 3/9
🚨 New preprint alert! 🚨 Excited to share my first preprint from my PhD! 🎉 We introduce a novel Aeschynomene evenia – Aphanomyces euteiches pathosystem to explore links between quantitative resistance and symbiosis in legumes. 🌱🔬 🧾 www.biorxiv.org/cgi/content/... 🧵 Thread: 1/9
A novel pathosystem between Aeschynomene evenia and Aphanomyces euteiches reveals new immune components in quantitative legume root-rot resistance.
Legumes are pivotal for sustainable agriculture, yet their productivity is hindered by soilborne pathogens such as Aphanomyces euteiches . This study introduces Aeschynomene evenia as a novel model to...

🎉Why is this exciting? Understanding genes like AeRLCK2 and AeCRK could help us engineer crops that resist pathogens without compromising beneficial symbiosis. A step toward more resilient legumes! 🍀 🙏Huge thanks to @baptistebio.bsky.social, @jacquet-chris.bsky.social & all other co-authors 🙌 9/9
New year, new #pathosystem! Yes, #Aeschynomene evenia can be used as a model to study #legume_Immunity — together with #Aphanomyces euteiches, the pea grower’s worst nightmare. Check out our preprint on bioRxiv : www.biorxiv.org/cgi/content/... . Special congrats to @madeleinebaker.bsky.social !
Exciting new knowledge on ferns immunity, a very nice work led by @baptistebio.bsky.social, and @jacquet-chris.bsky.social ! Check the thread of @baptistebio.bsky.social ! ⬇️

First post on Bluesky!! ☀️ Very happy to share that my main postdoc work ‘Systematic Discovery and Design of Synthetic Immune Receptors in Plants’ is finally out on Biorxiv! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1... The full story is summarized here:
Systematic Discovery and Design of Synthetic Immune Receptors in Plants
Plants deploy a diverse array of pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) that perceive microbe-associated molecular patterns (MAMPs) to activate immune responses. Leucine-rich repeat receptor-like kinase...

#Communiqué 🗞️ Une équipe de scientifiques dévoile un mécanisme clé de l’évolution des plantes. Une espèce de plantes contient dans son patrimoine génétique les traces d’un échange avec des champignons il y a un demi-milliard d’années. 🌱🧬 👉 www.cnrs.fr/fr/presse/du...

This gene family, probably involved in the drought response of M. polymorpha, originates from a horizontal gene transfer from a fungi to the ancestor of land plant, later lost in seed plants. Studying Marchantia therefore enabled us to further understand how plants conquered the land! (14/18)
Great work @chloe-beaulieu.bsky.social ! Congrats again to you and @maximebonhomme.bsky.social and to our great chief @pierremarcdelaux.bsky.social for this fantastic project! Happy to be (a little!) part of it! #EVOteam
